In favour of finite series, although I don't have proof or any reliable statistics thereof, I'd like to believe that the prime time audience do not have patience to watch the same characters, and same rona dhona for a prolonged period of time. Viewers won't want to suffer with self inflicted emotional atyachar!!!🤣 Hence, finite series with crisp execution and fast-moving story is what audience want today. However, how well they will be received and how well they earn is still not sure. There will be a huge fixed cost at the beginning for any Show. Whether the maker(s) and production house would be able to recover that cost within short period, in my opinion, will be the biggest challenge for a finite series.

On the flip side, long running series are what have made the channels like SP what they are today. And as you have rightly said, as there is no guarantee that all the finite series will work. especially if the rival channels also adopt the same strategy. Hence it will be better to test the waters and move entirely to the finite series gradually. In the meantime, it will be a better strategy to have a mix of both, IMO.

Arre..finite or infinite..whatever will give them money they will work on it 😆 Sp will not do social work..the thing is, finite series as in web series have become a hugely popular concept..we r slowly getting there.. serials with seasons is a better idea...and may be sp thought of cashing on it by bringing it on prime time ..

I see a lot of discussions about what fetches TRP’s or not!

Fact remains that audience is unpredictable. Some of the shittiest shows have excellent TRP’s too.
The fact that this show doesn’t fetch TRP’s despite being shitty or classic proves one thing. Nothing can sustain the show if there is no substance between the leads or other characters.

The leads have Zero chemistry. The third wheels were brought in illogically. And, the level of stupidity that goes into this divine love. The leads have no life beyond their theoretical love for each other. A love saga so EPIC needs a base- a reason to sustain apart from divine Chunari and Sindoor!

Please let’s not bring any 3rd wheels into consideration but the entire story is maha problematic. Beautiful theme yet problematic execution. There are many people who have unrequited love and move on yet the love remains beautiful in the hearts-that essence was missing from day 1.

Lacklustre build up of this entire story is the problem!
Lack of any qualities in the FL apart from her servile love for ML. The woman has to be more than a lover. She isn’t anything else!

I understand Charu that at the end of the day, money speaks and money matters for every channel, including SP.

However, it is one thing to stream series on web as the streaming cost is low. Aesthetics matter when a series air on television, no matter how brief the time-frame. Besides, there is an initial fixed cost associated with making the series, added promotional and production costs adds to that cost. The brief air time, imo, makes it challenging for them to recover the initial fixed cost, if not well received.

But chalo, sanu ki? Just wish that the channel hires competent creative team to examine the basic foundation (i,e. writing, direction, execution and cinematography) of any series it airs, irrespective of the time-frame.

Previously , there were only weekly shows , so the quality was very good...now finite series plus daily soap, this concept will be fresh by sp..obviously they will test it..and come up with a mix..few of their shows which r a hit will continue to run may be..

I agree with the production values part...technically they must be aware of the complexities...

SP has raked stupendous moolah with their long run series, although there have been exceptions too. So I'm not entirely sure if discarding the long-run series entirely will be a good business strategy, especially at the very beginning of the supposed revamp.

Well there 100 episode "ye jadu hai jinna ka " is quiet popular and is playing better in trp charts than kzk,sanjeevani likes so yeah this seems like nice bet a good well planned storyline with great star cast plus this will help actors to branch out and do a lot more shows than sticking to one particular show which keeps getting drag fest
