I prefer Shubra Gupta.

But no one really. Rangan doesn't love cinema in a way Roger Ebert did and most critics in India lean towards the so called left.

Anupama is a producer's wife. Rajeev is on Karan's payroll. Others are simply pretentious hacks.

So yeah.

Baradwaj Rangan is the only one who is an actual critic, baaki dono tou C se chutiye hai, C se critic nahi.

Rangan is the best and he doesn't deserve to be insulted by comparisons with Masand or Anupama. The one other critic I like otherwise is Rediff's Sreehari Nair. Not very prolific but his write-ups are generally quality. For instance this one on Angamaly Diaries:

I always read Rangan's reviews of films I am interested in.He has his own perspective,observation and take of scenes which I find interesting.

Whether I agree with his review or not..there is something I learn and take from his view.

I watch the other two only for my favorites film..only to see if their review will affect the BO.I am not interested in their thoughts-Even without watching,I know which films will be given a pass and which ones they will try to ruin.Their bias makes me dislike them.

Shubra should enjoy films a bit more.she must loosen up.I wonder if she is a joyless person in real life.

All of them review the person (actor) more than the character... review achcha ho ya bura. Indians hai hi aise ch.... Issi liye kisi ki reviews nahin padti.
