Will Frozen 2 opening be bigger than Pagalpanti?

Pagalpanti Opens Poor - Frozen 2 Good Opening

Pagalpanti has taken a poor start in the 15% range which is lower than last weeks Marjaawaan. The film is in that mass comedy zone like a Total Dhamaal and Housefull 4 but does not have the cast of those films. These film generally cater to multiplexes and single screens outside the metros but a film needs big stars to get some sort of start in these centres.

The film is a fairly costly affair and for that the opening is a big downer for the film as a film like Marjaawaan with less than half the costs opened better. This film can do better in the evenings and show better growth than Marjaawaan on Saturday but that will not be enough for the film.

The morning numbers of this film are lower than the John Abraham solo release Romeo Akbar Walter though that film was flat in the evening and if families come here then maybe it can finish in the range of Romeo Akbar Walter or higher.

Frozen 2 has taken a good opening of 25-30% and will return strong numbers as the Saturday and Sunday crowds will be strong. The first Frozen had a limited release on just 75 screens but had a five week run collecting a little under 3 crore nett.

The film has become a brand over time which will mean that Frozen 2 will collect far more than the first film in the first day alone. The occupancy is far better than Pagalpanti but the first day numbers could out to be similar as Pagalpanti has a far wider release as Frozen is on 1300 screens only and Pagalpanti is more than double that. It will be interesting to see if the Hollywood animation film can actually go higher than Pagalpanti on day one.
