Which cohort of actresses do you like the best? And which cohort is most talented. I am not talking about films, just acting wise/looks, etc.
Upcoming: Sara, Tara, Ananya, Mrunal, Jaanhvi, you get the idea
Gen Next: Shraddha, Alia, Parineeti, Sonakshi, etc
2000's-deepika, priyanka, katrina, Kareena....etc.
90's: rani, preity, kajol, juhi, ash, etc
80's, 70's, 60's
These are just a few actors, not all of them obvi.
It's funny how Preity / Ash / Rani are seen as "90s" because although they debuted that decade, they had just 3 / 4 / 5 releases each respectively in that decade.
My answer is: the current generation. It is in today's times that Hindi cinema has evolved so much and got to a point where performances have become less theatrical and melodramatic and more nuanced and real. Vidya Balan (Kahaani), Anushka Sharma (NH10), Alia Bhatt (Raazi), Radhika Apte (Parched), Kangana Ranaut (Queen), Deepika Padukone (Piku), Priyanka Chopra (Bajirao Mastani) and many many others' recent work is so astounding when you compare it with any other decade.. Even actress who've been around for decades have exceeded their previous efforts in the current climate: Sridevi (English Vinglish), Shabana Azmi (Neerja), Supriya Pathak (Ram Leela), Tabu (Andhadhun), Shefali Shah (Dil Dhadakne Do) and others.. Credit goes to the evolution in Writing too, their characters have multiple layers now, which was not there in the 90s. The 2010's decade is the best period. Period.
Ash, Preity, Rani - 90s.
Kareena belonging to next generation with Deepika, Katrina 😆

Very well said. I have a very soft spot for yesteryear actresses, as evident by my DP, but you are absolutely right, the actresses of today are far better at portraying *real* emotions/scenarios than their counterparts, who were far more theatrical and *acting*. I would love a little bit more mystery to the current lot though, some mystique. That adds so much to their aura. I'd give the older generations the edge purely because of that.
I like them all if they act well.
If they are one note..meh...
Right now I think Tabu is the one showing really good work and being pushed aside to 'glorify' Alia.. and not just her.., Vidya, too..and other 'older' actresses are just simply not recognised for their work

Kareena debuted in 2000. I went by debut's. Its really not a big deal, you get the idea. the list is approximate. Also Kareena was always pitied with priyanka, for the most part. Preity, Rani, etc can be considered early 2000's as well, of course.
2000's for sure! The next gen lack sparkle.
60s to 2000s were great.
