Jimmy Replaces Arshad In Naseer's Film By Taran Adarsh, November 1, 2005 - 09:30 IST Someone's loss is someone else's gain! This holds true for Arshad Warsi and Jimmy Shergill. While Arshad was initially signed for one of the lead roles in Naseeruddin Shah's directorial debut YUN HOTA TO KYA HOTA… WHAT IF?, Jimmy Shergill has stepped in Arshad's shoes a few days ago. Reason: Date problems!
Producer Shabbir Boxwala confirms the development, "Earlier, Arshad had committed bulk dates for Deepak Shivdasani's film in Goa and now, it's Aditya Chopra's new film in Afghanistan. He wanted us to push our project further, but we plan to wrap the entire shooting by November. Obviously, we can't wait endlessly."
Also, the makers had already procured bulk dates from as many as twelve actors for the penultimate schedule in November. "It's difficult to procure combination dates of busy actors like Paresh Rawal, Ayesha Takia, Irrfan, Tinnu Anand and Saroj Khan. How could we waste their dates to accommodate one actor?" Shabbir raises a point.
It's then that Shabbir and Naseer decided to look for an alternative and approached Jimmy instantly. "When I met Jimmy, I honestly asked him to bail me out of the crisis. He agreed, also because he was keen to work with Naseerbhai," he reveals. Jimmy has been teamed opposite Konkona Sen Sharma in the enterprise.
Although Shabbir hopes to wrap the entire filming by November-end, he'd release the film only in April 2006, during the summer vacations. "We need to work on the effects. And, of course, publicize the film to the optimum before releasing it," he reveals his schedule.
