Now I am beginning to wonder why they had all those late-night shoots for the wedding sequence. I had thought back then that they changed something in the storyline all of a sudden and now it all makes sense.

They had a leap but a proper one, and then they came back for season 2 for a few weeks and were allowed to tell their story completely, with a very satisfying ending. It's rare for ITV.
