K-pop is a far more harsher and fanatical environment than Bollywood is. The bashing on this forum can be puppy kisses in comparison to what happens in k-pop world.
Being a celebrity is not everyone's cup of tea. With fame comes brickbats. And that criticism is emotionally wrenching and damaging. That is why so many celebrities turn to drugs and alcohol as a coping mechanism. That is why mental health awareness and self-care is important.
That being said, going to extremes to hurt someone is wrong and unethical. But there is something about the anonymous online environment that brings out the worst in people. Sometimes the nastiest people in online are surprisingly sweet or timid online. Even I sometimes say things i probably wouldn't face to face. We all do. I think acting out online is also an often ignored mental health issue. Most people act out online, but they draw lines and regret when they cross it. I honestly believe that people who come online to abuse - need mental health support too. I'm not talking random bashing like "X looks fugly" or "Y is a fat turd" or "Z acts like a drunken gorilla" but extreme vile comments that allude to rape, torture, murder or those who won't back off even when someone is seriously traumatized.
The world would be a much better place if we all could get and afford mental health care without judgment.
