But what I think Minnie took a major issue with is the taunt that Chachiji made about her dragging HS' name into mud because of her clothing style. Though HS stood up for her, it still pricked her.

It's a huge bonfire with the entire family during the peak of winter. It's to celebrate the oncoming summer and welcome the sun in the northern hemisphere or something.

Winters are generally harsh on people and when they don't have proper amenities to fight the cold, it can get very daunting. So in a way this festival brings hopes to people that the worst is over. It's also an indication of the harvest of Rabi crops.

In my family, we have loads of fun, all dancing and enjoying around the fire in the biting cold weather. Plus, we celebrate it each year, not for the birth of kids.

That's what I read too so when I heard about this gendered angle, I was like ab yeh kya hai?
