I think it’s their lame attempt at showing traditional vs western/modern.

And yeah I’ve noticed this too. The female leads usually looked like they dressed in the dark compared to the negative characters that always look dressed in designer stuff. I guess in order to be a perfect traditional girl, you’re not into dressing in designer 🤪

These serials never show real women at all. For these stupid serials a well-cultured indian girl is always dressed in simple and traditional indian clothes and the rest are all of loose character 🤢

They feed stereotypes I guess. It’s how they also equate middle class to better values. And the gangsters are always dark skinned. Is it any wonder why there’s so much of judgement that goes on in society

not sure why its hard to try and break away from depicting those stereotypes. I mean if you have a creative mind, such things should be easy to observe. Looks like indian serials creatives have no creativity at all.

From what I’ve seen so far (il admit my knowledge is limited) they’re only able to do certain storylines and all I’ve seen so far stick to those same storylines. I’m not sure whether it’s because there’s a limit on what can be shown on Indian television. Once they finish these storylines (framing/festivals/ wedding/terrorist/poison) they start to struggle to get creative and think of other possible stories.

Would be nice if one day they break away from the norm and maybe for eg showing the rich girl in designer clothes as the traditional one hehe

Naira in yeh rishta is the closest to a rich girl who dresses up and is traditional all at the same time.

I've actually heard directly from ITV writer's interview articles in past that they actually all follow a certain template. Half the times its actually not writer's fault but pressure and intrusion by rating-greedy channels.

If there wasn’t the demand for it, they wouldn’t still be showing it on tv. They only show what people want to watch. Just like the mother in law/daughter in laws shows omg they get on my nerves. I can’t believe ppl see that as entertainment
