Sita is standing by the window. Her sisters come there.

Sita: my sisters are you happy here?

Sis: yes we are

Sita: then we should share our happiness with our parents

Urmilla: how come?

Sita: by writing a letter to them, they must be so worried , we must tell them how happy we are.

Mandavi takes a writing cloth and a writer and ink bottle.

Sita: first of all we four should salute them

Urmilla: we should write how are our mothers taking care of us. We have two mothers in MIThila and three mothers here

Mandavi: the subjects all love the prince

Sita: Shrutakirti won't you say something?

Shru: yes, our husbands love us very much.

M & U start laughing, sita slowly says Mandavi and she stops. Sita takes some black ink and puta dot on Shrutakirti ( kali dag-nazar na lage)

Now Ram is standing by window side. Sita comes.

Ram: you haven't slept?

Sita: you do not sleep as long as the praajas donot sleep. I do not sleep as long as you don't

Ram: am I doing anything wrong to the subjects?

Sita: how can you do wrong my Lord? You r justice, care and truth embodied

Ram: am I doing any injustice to you?

Sita looks back shocked

Ram: then why did you need to write a letter to mithila my dear?

Sita: hmm (laughingly) surely one of your secret agents told you? You yourself assembled this secret service section didn't you? You call them GUPTA MITRA.

Ram: site, seems you have assembled a bunch of gupta mitras of your own.

Sita blushes

Morning-Mealtime

Dasarath, his wives and his sons are having midday meal. The daughters are standing by.

Dasarath: Kaushlaya, our four sons have grown up. They are now eligible too. They can drive away enemies and keep Ayodhya safe. Ram really takes care of everything

Kaikeyi: so maharaj, are you planning to make ram King?

Kaushlaya and Sumitra and elated, Manthara sees doom.

Kaikeyi: that's the best thing possible.

Bharat: yes, Ram bhaiyya is full of care, justice and love, he will be the best.

Ram is pleased but surprised and shocked too. Sita is pleased.

Ram: no, I donot want to be king, I want to live under the guidance of father.

Dasarath: but you will not refuse to take some responsibilities?

I have decided Bharat will take care of the treasury, Laxman and Satrughna will look after the protection of the state, And Ram-the eldest will look after the subjects and the city as whole.

Everyone is pleased, manthara is sore.

Night again

Dasarath is taking rest and a servant is massaging his legs. Ram silently enters and takes his place.

Dasarath: you really serve me well**, just like ram. You r not feeling tired are you?

Sevak: no maharaj

D: where would ram be now, surely he has fallen asleep.

Ram: how can a king sleep when his subjects are wake, and how can a son sleep when his father is awake?

Dasarath happily gets up and sys ram should go to his room now. He is married now, his wife will be waiting.

Ram says he is worried and wants to discus. Why does Dasarath want to retire?

Dasarath: man must retire sometime before he is made to retire by nature's law, by death.

Ram: but so much to do, so muchresponsibilities.

Dasarath: it's like life. A tree gives flowers and fruits but when the fruits are picked and leaves and flowers fall off in winter, the tree is not shaken. It gets new leaves. It's the law of nature.

Ram is crying. They hug.
