So it will be intriguing to see his emotional journey as he begins so to truly open himself up to feeling all those emotions again...because it would include opening himself up to vulnerability again...to being open to the pain, the much needed catharsis vis a vis Imarti and actually finding the courage to be happy without guilt.

This... it's going to be cathartic indeed and both mother-daughter have to be really strong for him when it happens.

Yes I remember writing elsewhere that he has chosen a somewhat austere life as if to lessen the guilt of being alive when Imarti had gone, after all the promises of living and dying together. He was living as a shell of his former self, as he had told Minnie. These two gave him a reason to hope and live. If you remember when the TV crew had come, Lala was reminiscing the brighter days in the haveli when Imarti had been around and HS had asked him not to remind him, as he felt that tees.

Yes, he feels guilty for being alive even as Imarti is dead. So he forcefully resists any acceptance of the fact that he can live and love beyond Imarti.

Babita has to help ease that guilt inside him....remind him of all he’s taught her about living life even when all seemed lost....of not feeling guilt for embracing happiness again.

He’s deffo come a long way but there is still a long path to travel in overcoming that guilt.

Exactly. He is comfortable in the role of helping others, focusing on solving their problems rather than facing his own....it was a form of distraction from having any time, any moment to introspect.

But Babita and Mini have swept in now and refuse to leave him to deal with it by himself. Babita especially showed in that scene that she will fight to remove the thorn even if he resists help.

Which is why the scene where Minnie puts a hand on his cheek and then he just gives in and holds in to it to cry because he can't control himself and knows she will get him, that was a huge deal to him and a major shift in dynamics.

I found that scene so touching also because Mini plays that role for both Babita and HS now. She has become that person in their lives that they can break down in front of...that emotional anchor.

Even as they both struggle with more complicated man-woman issues, she becomes that pure hearted thread that knits them together. She doesn’t let either of them snap that thread, no matter what.

I find all these characters remarkable for their capacity to love in the face of such odds...they aren’t perfect ppl...they all have flaws...Mini, HS, Babes....but they still hold on to each other.

Beast signifies the darker emotions inside him...he’s a person who’s seen a lot of pain and violence growing up...then lived with the tragedy of his wife.....

So it’s not about physical violence per se, it’s about dark, impetuous emotions that aren’t always in control...they can come out as harsh words, as a passionate hold.

Because he’s bottled it up inside himself for so many years, he doesn’t trust how some of those emotions will pour out and be perceived...which is why he warns Babita and Mini about the beast within.

But I think it’s more a case of self flaggelation...HS would never harm the ones he loves, no matter how much he laments the genes of his father in him....he just struggles with his past, that’s all.

He hasn't talked much about his father, beyond calling him a sharaabi. I suspect that part of his life and his difficult relationship with his father is yet to be addressed on the show. We've only gotten glimpses of it so far.

And yes, in episode 28 he did allude to the fact that he may have picked up some of his father's traits subconsciously but then reformed because of Imarti. Now that she is gone, he doesn't trust himself to be 'safe' for those around him in terms of emotional turbulence.

Role reversal has to happen at some point. I also think his father-in-law needs to help him and I hope we see him again. I wonder if he will be at the wedding.

Imarti did reform him, but HS needs to realize that the goodness existed inside him to begin with or it wouldn’t have come to the fore.

Perhaps Babita can make him realize that....that his goodness does not hinge only on living up to Imarti’s expectations of him or her vision of the world. Yes, it’s wonderful that Imarti expanded his world view toward feminism and progressive thinking, but it’s weirdly created a complex inside him like he cannot be a good person on his own without Imarti to coach him 😕

Completely agree, and I also think that he doesn't give himself enough credit. To remain cheerful and optimistic about the world, to mentor mother-daughter, etc and not become cynical despite the tragedies he faced is indeed commendable.

Minnie was referring to this during the Imarti track when she was telling him that he was a good man, he always had been. She somehow knew he was battling with his self-doubt and she could not stand the way he was suffering by hurting himself. Self-flagelation indeed. More to come on that I suppose.

I am just really excited to see how it works out. Can't wait for these deep dark emotions to be explored. 😃
