Yes, you can see this more clearly in hindsight when you go back to watch early epis now after having seen his whole journey.
What a remarkable man he is...grappling so much with vulnerability inside himself but putting it all aside for the ones he loves....for Mini, for Babes....he goes the distance....as if easing their pain eases some of his by extension.
Ofcourse there’s a flip side to this. You can’t neglect yourself at the cost of others forever...you need to heal yourself too. HS neglects himself....he can be like a wounded tiger and a grouchy bear about the thorns he’s living with inside. But Mother-Daughter will rise to the occasion and pull out the thorns to help heal him at last.
That scene when Babita pulls the thorn out of his foot was major foreshadowing.
@bold - this is exactly what I was thinking. He spent so long trying to remove the thorn in his foot but couldn't since it wasn't visible to him. Just like how Imarti's memories and the grief of losing her isn't a visible element, but a feeling instead. It took Babita's help to remove it but even for her it took some time. During this time, HS just kept staring at her fondly, falling just a little bit more in love with her. Here too, whilst helping him heal, he will fall even more in love with her. Then finally, the thorn is removed, placed in his palm and HS looks at it lovingly. That tiny little thing pained him so much but he has no real complaints against it. Instead, it because a source of invoking more precious feelings inside of him for Babes. Given that, how could he possibly hold any narazgi with it. Same thing with Imarti. He will always look back on her fondly but she's also going to become the reason why Hanita will get even more closer to each other.

Beast signifies the darker emotions inside him...he’s a person who’s seen a lot of pain and violence growing up...then lived with the tragedy of his wife.....
So it’s not about physical violence per se, it’s about dark, impetuous emotions that aren’t always in control...they can come out as harsh words, as a passionate hold.
Because he’s bottled it up inside himself for so many years, he doesn’t trust how some of those emotions will pour out and be perceived...which is why he warns Babita and Mini about the beast within.
But I think it’s more a case of self flaggelation...HS would never harm the ones he loves, no matter how much he laments the genes of his father in him....he just struggles with his past, that’s all.

Absolutely. If you remember he was uncomfortable about letting someone help him / asking for help, especially Babita, who back then was still fluttering because he is usually the one to help others. I think that enables him to look the other away and take his mind off his own troubles, because introspection is too big a burden for him to deal with, that too alone.
Oh I loved that side head bump too!
But yeah this looks adorable too...doubled my excitement for this epi ❤️😂
And yes, he’s literally doing every little bit for Mini’s smile...the indulgent affection in his expression says it all.
Uff yes!
And thanks but you're killing me with all these perfect gifs. 😆
The parallels are absolutely there...he deffo struggles with his own form of guilt just like Babita does.
It’s worth noting that he chose to not even sleep comfortably for so many years. He’s sleeping in the verandah outside on a tiny cot despite having so many rooms and space in the haveli. He puts on a happy face declaring how happy and comfortable he is in his existence but it’s a facade.
His emotions come to the fore in moments like being overwhelmed by Babita’s food, her apnapan, her care.....he feels alive after many years....and that’s hard to cope with because on a day to day level, he doesn’t even admit that he’s simply existing, not living.
So it will be intriguing to see his emotional journey as he begins so to truly open himself up to feeling all those emotions again...because it would include opening himself up to vulnerability again...to being open to the pain, the much needed catharsis vis a vis Imarti and actually finding the courage to be happy without guilt.
Yes I remember writing elsewhere that he has chosen a somewhat austere life as if to lessen the guilt of being alive when Imarti had gone, after all the promises of living and dying together. He was living as a shell of his former self, as he had told Minnie. These two gave him a reason to hope and live. If you remember when the TV crew had come, Lala was reminiscing the brighter days in the haveli when Imarti had been around and HS had asked him not to remind him, as he felt that tees.
Before this wedding he was always worried about getting too used to her care and attention lest he be left all alone. Minnie making him an omelet nearly undid him but he stayed strong just for her. I was amazed by his self control in that scene.
Uff I love this character.

Aww you’ve described the scene so sweetly, Gur :)
That’s exactly it in a nutshell....he was hurt by the thorn, but couldn’t figure out a way to remove it...resisted help, but Babita took charge regardless...it took her time to remove the thorn, but she finally did....in the process he just fell more in love with her and realized that he needlessly carried that pain inside him for so long.
Gur, such a good bacchi you are.....sabka viewpoint samajh leti ho.....Camp Bapu and Camp Not-Bapu, dono ka😆
HS has been a different kind of father to Mini....as you rightly pointed out, he hasn't seen her formative years....the main years of her childhood....she's come to him almost as an adult....so whatever term she uses for him should reflect some of that also.....along with the hatke nature of their bonding.
Anyways, I guess we should trust the writers to do this right.....whatever term they decide, I want it to be a good emotional scene b/w HS and Mini when the time comes.
Most awaited scene for me.

Exactly. He is comfortable in the role of helping others, focusing on solving their problems rather than facing his own....it was a form of distraction from having any time, any moment to introspect.
But Babita and Mini have swept in now and refuse to leave him to deal with it by himself. Babita especially showed in that scene that she will fight to remove the thorn even if he resists help.

LOLL, I hope it didn't make me sound hypocritical! 😆
I would love for Minnie to call HS Bapu at least once so that a) Jean's dream comes true and b) for HS to have that chance to hear his child call him with a fatherly title.
After that, Minnie can officially inaugurate him with a word she has selected just for him. 😆
Whenever that scene takes place, Imma cry so hard.
@bold
Aww, you're such a sweetheart.
Yes, I'm going to cry but also jump with joy.
