Initially, I had same thoughts about paridhi.but, that daru Wala scene where she tried to stop him, the way both actors were one on one... I realized it's not about the actor, it's the writing.
We all agreed that it's hard to match anirudh , but for me, paridhi was equally brilliant in that scene. I realized that open acting is bit easy than restricted one. I am not taking any credit away from anirudh, but his character writing is more open where he can freely act. That is his domain and which is appreciate d by all. Whereas paridhi character is made restricted which is hard to enact. Imagine you have to be all shy, crying, restricted with action ,emotions against a character who is given freedom.
All characters you quoted are free in their expressions ; be it NB in her gallis or scolding, minni, mickey, khatri etc. That day ,I felt , paridhi is doing best as an underdog character which is really hard to do in this lot.
Yes, I forgot to mention this daru wala scene in my post earlier. In that scene, she was brilliant. Near the door, when HS and Babita have arguments, and also when she's trying to stop HS from drinking, they way she comes down with attitude, loved it, HS ko takkar de rahi thi.
I see what you are saying about restricted acting. Maybe thats why some people seem to be more sympathetic towards HS and Min's character. You are right, Paridhi's character is very restricted, in terms of showing her emotions, her desires. And waise bhi, people tend to like the loud, bindaas character more than the subdued, restricted ones. I agree, its not the actor, its the writing that have faltered somewhere, though i feel writers are very good with most of the things they show, but they have somehow failed here, and many were disappointed because of it.
I don't know if I should say it but in one of the interview, Paridhi sounds very unconvincing of the track and her character's role in it (it was during Imarti track). Maybe she felt the character HS and Mini were given much more importance in that track than the character Babita and I can see why she felt that way. Nonetheless, I think the actors are well aware of what the audience thinks, thats why in that fb segment also they mention the audience's narazgi with somethings. Also, the recent SBS segment, Paridhi clarifies that Mini is not Kabab mein haddi, I think they are aware how audience were not liking Mini coming in between HS and Babita. Idk maybe I am overthinking.
