I mean, just look at his filmography! Everything he touches turns to gold. Even Article 15 a dark movie without any entertainment quotient whatsoever became a hit. Yet, I feel people on this forum are not giving him credit where it's due. Why is this?

I think he is pretty well liked, but he doesn't have hard core fans or haters, so there is no drama. It is just like the case of Aamir. Everyone looks forward to his films, but is hardly interested in him otherwise. Ayushmann is kinda headed in that direction too.
