It's a commentary against social conditioning of men that makes them feel they have to appear tough, that sensitivity is a sign of weakness, and that they have thicks skins which means you can just say whatever they want and they will be ok with it.

These are words of wisdom.

As for his patience, I am glad he clearly expressed what the boundaries are (especially to the audience), what his limits are. He's a human being, not a saint. ❤️

For this very reason I am so looking forward to be his meltdown.

Re: haveli - the simple answer will be it's his inheritance. The complicated answer will be he has a lot of emotional attachment to it. If I remember correctly, it was his grandfather who had built it and he has a lot of love and respect for the man. Yes, it's also the same house where his drunkard father lived and hurled his abuses. Yes, it's also the same house where his mother was continuously beaten and eventually died. But it's also the same house where he got married to Imarti. It's the same house where he got a new perspective on life and a newfound respect for women. Not to mention, Imarti lives in every single corner of that house. There wouldn't be a single space that she wouldn't have touched with her presence. On his lonely nights, when he looks into these spaces, he must be hit with a thousand and one memories of her.

Re: himself - in some ways, he considers himself to be a failure when it comes to the women in his life. He failed to save his mother as a child, and he failed to save his wife as a husband. In both situations, there wasn't much that he could have done. If he had intervened as a child, then his dad's anger and violent ways would have been targeted on him. As a husband, there wasn't much that he could do to make Imarti's delivery a success. That was literally out of his hands. There are a lot of underlying issues with him that haven't exactly come to the surface but I think we'll be getting some answers soon.

I think HS' resistance comes partly from the fact that no one truly understands how deep his pain goes. They can guess at it, but the intensity of it can only be felt by him. No one else can understand it. So when Naeem Bi tells him it's time to move on, he understands her sentiments but he can't abide by them because it's not easy. Imarti was Imarti. He just can't let go of her even if he wants to.

You've perfectly explained the reason behind his attachment to his haveli. It is the only constant in his life when everything else that was dear to him had left him. There's emotional attachment but also a daily reminder of all the ups and downs in his life.

@bold
This... he alluded to it the other night when he came home drunk after his patch up with Minnie. In that state he was trying to explain to her why he drinks but then he also said he was unable to make her understand.

I think being repeated called sharaabi throughout the day also bothered him after a point because it felt as if they were taking aim at his so-called addiction but not bothering to see why. Of course, he would never speak up about this himself, but if they couldn't understand him, they might as well leave him be. Which they won't, because they are family.

He doesn't have a single photo of Imarti anywhere except in his heart. It must be that unbearable.

He has said such things to Khatri, Ashok and today Babita. He is too scared to open up because he knows that even if he is able to let out and convey his pain ... People won't exactly get it. I guess Babita will be able to strike the right chord and make the walls of his heart melt so that he can begin with speaking something to her.

Yup. The context in which he has said these words have been different but they still ring true. HS is an extremely patient person but that doesn't mean that he doesn't have a breaking point. Even he has a tolerance level and once that's crossed, who knows how he'll react.

In a way, I think HS feels like only Imarti was able to truly understand him. She was able to correct his wrongs, guide him on the right path, handle all his passions etc. I would even dare to say she must have been his best friend. Yes, there's Lala, but when it comes to insecurities that he's not even willing to share with himself, Imarti must have surely known.

After her death, he might not have known who to turn to. Not sure if his grandfather or father would have been alive at this point but I doubt he would have felt comfortable going to them and crying about his wife. As a result, he must have drank away all his tears and anguish rather than talking about it with someone. Yes, he had Lala and Naeem Bi whom he could have turned to, but their equation with Imarti was completely different to what HS had with her. They could have heard him out but what advice or consolation could they have possibly given him that would have made him feel okay?

The other day, when he was telling her off in the hanky scene, part of it was for Minnie but I think most of the words were direct from his heart, his frustration with her mixed signals and her unexpected invasions of his space.

the one thing i love abt him is he doesnt let the mother daughter duo walk over him... yes he loves them to death will do anything for them but he is clear from day one ki bhai tumhari self respect hai toh meri bhi hai... he is a no nonsense man with his own flaws.. damn he is a catch... why babita is hesitating... mai toh aise bande ko one knee pe jaake propose bhi kar lu😳

Exactly! The day he feels Babita is truly ready to be his equal and to meet him halfway is when he will take that step towards her.

There's so much I want to say about today's episode but I loved this post of yours so had to comment right away. It was indeed a brilliantly put together episode with everything in perfect balance.

It's as we have been saying, it's "too early" for Babita in the journey to be able to deal with him. There's a side to him she does not know because she has inadvertently but the boundaries between them that he does not cross. She only sees things superficially and will need to go deeper if she wants to make any progress. Their fight at the door and the points they brought up summed it all for me (it was a brilliant piece, by the way).

She has to deal with him as Babita and not as Imarti, so trying to do what Imarti would is not going to work. She will have to find her own way and this is part of her establishing her rule over his heart by making her own place with her own identity. She's still learning and she going to be hurt along the way.

HS knew he hurt her today and was going to if these topics came up, so escaping the house with bottle in hand was all he could do. That's what the warning against playing with fire was all about. Since she wouldn't stop, he knew that as the mature one, he had to.

He must have had stubborn traits that Imarti could handle but as you said "Babita is a weak person to handle a wildfire like Hanuman after all." She is still naive about many things, including love and romance, because she is looking at the brighter side of life, understandably. He does not want to burst her bubble yet and is happy with the status quo for now.

We also got a glimpse of just how much passion and fire he still has for Imarti so I am expecting fireworks in the flashbacks. I fell in love with Aniruddh's performance all over again today.

What did Babita mean by "badi bahaduri dikha di Minnie ke saamne, zara sa bhi contol nahi hota apse"? The hand grabbing, the drinking, or what he was saying about fire?

The bolded part is what I felt clinched the whole episode just as you felt so. Brilliant acting by Anirudh in this scene. And true to her character Babita backed out into reassuring known territory the moment he prodded on about Meeta and what she felt. Sad because he really wanted her to be truthful and tell him openly that she felt jealous because she loved him. It was lovely to see him speaking to her about the many hurtful things she has told him or hurt him through her behaviour such as saying thanks to him. Such a wonderful wonderful scene which highlighted the essence of who they both are as individuals and how different they are!

Looved the episode as usual and Minnie. Love the fact that she has now discarded her too-wise-beyond her age avatar and is enjoying being a kid.

There's also the fact that there's a certain stigma that comes with being called a sharaabi. His father was one and he was a highly abusive man. He was despicable to the point that his own mother died because of his violent actions. So, for HS to be compared to that man and be labelled the same as him... it must sting a lot.

I wonder where all her stuff went. Did he lock them up in some room, give them back to her family or donate them? I know he kept the diya and karchi, but did he keep some of her other stuff too?

It was an intelligently composed episode. The way they layered emotions, dialogues, background music and comic timing is worthy of an applause. I expected the episode to be heavy but it was not. Great work team.

Hanuman is right. Everything is really complicated. He told Mini about Babita's past and her thought process but what about his own self? That is the moment I realized that however confident and expressive Hanuman is on the outside, he is a really defensive man on the inside. He does not want to talk about his life, his past and his emotions. A lot of hard work is needed in this department.

He wants Babita to open up and confess her feelings. I will agree with him on that point but hey wait what did he just say after that? "Chhori jaisa chal Raha hai chalne de ... Woh ek chhat ke neeche Rehne ko kehte hai naa live in relationship." I thought Hanuman knew better than that. 😆

I realized that Hanuman Singh functions on two levels - a part of him which is living in the present wants Babita to communicate in a better way and other part of him lives in the past where Imarti meant the world to him.

So Babita makes an innocent attempt of getting a bottle and making him drink in order to not make him drink! This is the absolute contrast between Babita and Imarti, if it would have been Imarti in Babita's place she would have broken the alcohol bottle straight away by hitting it on Hanuman's head.

I was actually very pleasantly surprised when Mini said "Ghar mein do do daaru baaz, guys don't you think I deserve better parents." This makes me believe that she is not going to give up on her parents even if they give up on themselves.

The fight between Hanuman and Babita made me see the potential they hold as a couple but it is strongly evident that both of them are on two different pages in the book of love and life. Hanuman easily gets offended by Babita because she wants to step in his personal space but has not let him step closer to her yet.

He wants her to communicate whether it is about all the problems she has with him or about Meeta or about anything else and she wants him to understand like he has always understood in other matters. Babita is mistaken here because these are the matters of heart.

The whole tying the hair and then tying the duppata and then provoking Hanuman into 'I am saying don't drink so don't drink' stint was so naive. She expects him to listen to her and obey her but that is not going to happen because the chivalrous police officer and the vulnerable loner are two different people and she does not realize it yet.

She makes the effort but ends up pushing the wrong buttons. "Agar Imarti ji hoti to" - I guess this is not the first time she has taken Imarti's name in such a way. I would want to see her stand in front of him, look into his eyes and speak like Babita because she is Babita and not Imarti.

"Woh Imarti thi." He says steps backwards and leaves her in tears. He is correct , Babita is a weak person to handle a wildfire like Hanuman after all. It will take sometime for her to realize that. He ends up drinking, She does not have a hold over him. She is not going to have it until she decides to step up and look into Hanuman for who he really is - a man with scars, burns, aches and open wounds.

The precap gives it right away - Hanuman Singh has to move on in life and it is what this arch is all about.

Sir Saab ki bhashan mein bole toh 'Bawlo se bhaari mistake ho rahi hai' but can I say that even when both of them are making mistakes they are not at fault. It is her life's first ever love for Babita where she knows that she is important for him and has a lot of expectations out of him. About Hanuman, he is living a struggle of his own. Torn between stepping forward towards Babita or living with Imarti's memories.

Hanuman knows the whole and soul of Babita. She has begun to have a taste of the real world just now. She is picking and wrapping happiness in her heart from the embroidered night skies and the dew of early morning flowers. He knows that for her he means happiness but he also knows that she won't be able to take it when he burns in agony and heartache. The harshness of his words can make her shiver forget about the time when his anger can set ablaze her life. He will not do this to her.

The mature man in him wants Babita to take the first step. Fine, but even if she does so the tinkling of Imarti's Bangles will keep replaying in his mind on loop. It is indeed going to be difficult for Hanuman.

Babita on the other hand had said "Woh bhi kaha Kuch kehte hai." I am waiting for the moments when Mini will realize that there is no point rushing because more severe problems have to be dealt with. Right now, Babita is developing feelings for the gentleman that he is for the world but will she be able to accept the volatile and vulnerable beast in him. That my friends we will have to wait and watch!

Wonderful analysis. Really enjoyed reading it.

Fully fully agree agree agree agree agree. :)
