Not all her movies, but Sonam was so miscast in Ek Ladki, the movie couldn't hit an emotional high point because of her half-baked performance. A better actress like Tapsee or Kriti Kulhari would have delivered a more polished product that would have connected better with the niche audiences.
Taapsee is a poor performer and she'd have lacked the fragility Sonam brought to Sweety's character. She wasn't miscat and let's be honest, the movie is first and foremost about a woman who can steal a man's heart in one glance -it requires the heroine to be beautiful and not average looking imo.
The movie garnered a momentum and its BO results because of Sonam's presence in the film. She was also the one who was part of the project since the very beginning and didn't shy away from playing a gay character.
Sonam's acting was to the point to what the role and the movie required.
Sonam is also one of the mainstream actresses who acts in niche movies or in movies in which her screenpresence can be limited without batting an eyelash.
Curently that's Katrina...killing all the khans one by one.

When I see your comments, I think Gauhargeous, tina, zara, deepak...
1. Sonam
2. Sonakshi
3. Parineeti
4. Katrina
5. Aishwarya
Which one of any of their flops would have been a hit without them?
I disagree on Sonam. Haven’t seen the movie and I don’t know if she was good or bad, but her presence gave the movie a lot of extra hype.
Say what you will about Katrina but she brings a lot of bodies to the theaters. Not fair to blame her for the Khans’ bad judgements or whatever else that’s wrong with those movies.

The point being?
No personal comments please 👍🏼 apni hi line bhul gayi 🤣When I see your comments, I think Gauhargeous, tina, zara, deepak...

Tapsee isn't a poor performer or unattractive. But Sonam brought a lot of visibility to the movie. It would have remained n offbeat film considering the subject and may not have got into mainstream if not for Sonam. And her being a vocal supporter of LGBTQ rights makes her n apt choice
