Thanks for supporting Ananya. My view of society in general is quite sarcastic 🤣Sometimes it just goes over people’ head.

Negative FLs is a new area. The only other show I have heard of attempting this is Beyhadh. Since writers do not have a precedent to follow in this area, they don't know how to handle it, and like you said - the same audiences who stan those abusive MLs would be the first to question the intentions of similar FLs. The writers themselves go overboard and somehow us women have some serious double standards. Even if we talk about women empowerment, few would accept a female lead who is stronger than the male lead.

I like the leads to be equally strong, it makes for better storytelling but growing up, I was okay with watching those manipulative MLs rule TV. Thank goodness I have outgrown that stage, LOL, but this is an interesting question indeed.

if you watch dil to happy hai ji,you will know. the male lead was shown as a villain,a playboy and even almost assualted the female lead, but in the end ML will sudharify and female lead will melt and fall for him, will always think about his happiness. Horrible. to be frank why they always show a woman behind another woman's destruction. why don't they bring a positive show where in a mother in law who supports her daughter in law or a women helping each other for personal growth.

i remember watching ladies special in sony tv a decade ago. wonderful show..second part is already going rounds in the channel, i am yet to watch it.

another stupid concept fall in love without thinking about future, partying and roaming around is life !

what they are showing. moreover kids are also not spared, they too are spoiled by this gf bf chakkar. kya tumhari friend ladki hey, tumhari gf hey.nonsense. where did the magical word friend vanish from the society. opposite gender can live as friends forever.

why a FL should be negative? why can't we love positive things around .

in tamil a decade ago, beautiful comedy shows came up. "veetukku veedu lootti" and "Ramani VS Ramani".That is still fresh is our minds. BY showing negative things in television what we are going to get? INSTEAD WHY DON'T TELEVISION SHOW UNITY, LOVE, EMPATHY IN A FAMILY AND SOCIETY IN GENERAL. PEOPLE ALSO TAKE GOOD THINGS FROM MEDIA?

NOW MEDIA IS FULL OF ALCOHOL,RAPE , EXTRAMARITAL AFFAIRS , MURDERS AND REVENGE. AND PUBLIC LOVE IT.😕

HOW ON EARTH YOU WILL LIVE PEACEFULLY THEN?

So, I've watched and been part of forums, of shows, where the MLs were a******s or playboys, who used to abuse/hurt the FLs.

But the audience would absolve the ML and stan him, and instead blame the FL for being too forgiving and 'mahaan'.

Then I have also seen shows and been part of forums where the FLs would be morally questionable, or even cruel.

Even there, the audience would blame the FL and say that she is a 'vamp' or wrong or too dark, and she should be punished and 'she is good enough for the ML'.

So, whatever an ML does, the audience accepts him, and most of the audience is female. Are we girls thinking with our hormones?

But whatever a female does, if she is too good, then she is 'mahaan' and if she not forgiving, and does questionable things, the she is 'wrong, vamp, dark, needs to be taught a lesson' etc.

Why are, our standards different for MLs and FLs?

Are we victims of internalized misogyny, where we find faults in the FL for doing whatever she does? Do we unconsciously hate women? What do we expect from women? Are we ready for flawed women, women who make mistakes, women who are wrong?

We even bash female villains more than male villains. So, even here, there is a bias. smiley36

Just something to think about.

"Why are, our standards different for MLs and FLs?"

NOT ONLY IN MEDIA BUT IN REAL LIFE A WOMAN IS ALWAYS BLAMED. MEN CAN TORTURE THEIR WIFE ,ASK HER TO GET OUT OF THE HOUSE,IF HE DOESN'T LIKE CAN DIVORCE HER, BUT ITS NOT EASY FOR A WOMAN TO WALK OUT OF THE HOUSE. WE CAN'T EVEN TRAVEL IN THE BUS PEACEFULLY.

I CANNOT SIGHT A REAL LIFE PERSONALITY AS ITS AGAINST FORUM RULE.

People love DRAMA.. Showing realistic things in ITV might not work.

TMI, but I had a friend who thought she could change a bad guy in real life. Needless to say, it didn't work because real life is NOTHING like TV shows.

@Bold 2: SAME. The "mahaan" bahus, who save the day (i.e. Kavya), have become a thing of the past. We need leads who are flawed but strong. We are getting that in EBSS right now, and that's what's keeping me hooked to the show. Pooja and Kabir are right and wrong in their own ways, but they are strong-headed characters. Their clashes would eventually lead to them realising their mistakes and that is what I am looking forward to. Someone like Dhruv can and would never match up to someone as strong as Pooja.

ITS POSSIBLE ONLY IN MOVIES AND TV. THAT'S WHAT. THEY HAVE RUINED YOUNGSTERS MIND , FALL FOR WRONG GUY AND CHANGE HIM. THERE IS SOMETHING CALLED A BASIC CHARACTERISTICS,WHICH CANNOT BE CHANGED.
