first things first this was a troubled and delayed production, it was announced way back in... I guess 2015-2016 n had signed shroff with a completely different script. but johar was apparently not happy with the project and it went into the can just like 'Drive'.but when Shroff gave one of the biggest openings with Baaghi 2. johar was quick to realize his folly and saw the potential in this absurd franchise..this happened all of a sudden, and changes were made in the script to comply with shroff's dancing and fighting skills that he's known for. He thought its gonna work at BO at all costs.

Sure the film got the double digit opening but bruh? what about the content? its the same old shit or even worse (rip off of jo jeeta wohi sikander) it had to tank anyhow. Also, media has generated wrong buzz for the original SOTY. It wasn't a blockbuster or something. IT opened well, did great in week 1 but collections fell in week 2 and 3 and it ended up as a SEMI-HIT.so for making a sequel out of a film which wasn't even a superhit is a waste of time, money and resources..It's a slap on kjo's ego truly ! otherwise he would have been carrying off this shit for years.

No he still has Shanaya and Khushi.

I think he expected this movie to do Baaghi2 level business because of Tiger’s acrobatics. Punit basically admitted that the original script was something completely different and they changed it to utilize Tiger’s strength.
