Do you want Australia to have a chance at Super 8 or what?

A win, a no result match or two loses with very close margins can still put Zimbabwe in Super 8s. Australia and Ireland have to work hard and other results have to help them before they go into super 8s.

Cheers..

What about the pitch and weather? Pallekele has been a far better place for the batters. In two games played here so far, we have seen big scores, with Sri Lanka scoring a mammoth 225 in the morning game against Oman. Last evening, too, it was a high-scoring yet another one-sided clash between Sri Lanka and Australia at this venue.

But this is the subcontinent, and you can never really escape spin. No matter how friendly the pitch looks for batting, there's always that threat lurking, especially as the match progresses and the surface wears. There's one more thing to keep an eye on, though.

The forecast for Pallekele isn't entirely clear. Thunderstorms and rain are predicted during match hours, and that's the last thing this tournament needs right now. Hopefully, the weather gods will cooperate and we get to see this crucial clash play out in full.

Pls, no 5 over match... Or worse yet, match getting washed out! 😔

Washout will work in favor of Zim btw :)

It's raining in Pallekele and the entire ground is under covers. However, the forecast is for the weather to improve as the day progresses and hopefully we'll have some cricket. Mind you, a washout will be enough for Zimbabwe to qualify and it'll also result in the elimination of Australia. For now, toss has been delayed

Zimbabwe have brought in Ben Curran as a replacement player for Brendan Taylor, but don't expect any changes. Neither will Ireland be forced into a change, especially after their convincing performance against Oman. Toss isn't going to be a factor today and the pitch should be full of runs. Toss and team sheets coming up shortly...

No it won't. Zim has 4 points right now. If the match is washed out, they'll get 5 points aka 1 point each.

Australia has a match with Oman. If they win, they'll get 6 points. They'll get into the Super Eights easily. They dont even need the NRR.

This is how it'll be, right ?

Zim has 4 points, if washout then 5 pts, aus can get maximum 4 pts so Zim will be through
