There is no such thing as good-content show on Hindi TV. Initially when shows launch, they stick to their original storyline. Some shows start with good storyline and several others have pathetic stories to even begin with (there is one over hyped show in mind 😂). As time progresses, they bring in dramatic storyline for TRPs. This is the first step towards destruction. If such tactics manages to up the numbers, they continue running the show with concluded plots like ML marrying two women, ML’s brother being engaged to FL, entry of doppelgänger of the dead and what not. If a show manages to run beyond two years, they bring in leaps with much more contrived plots to drag the show. The lead couple will get separated for some BS reason. Either the ML will doubt the FL of sleeping with someone else of the FL will be presumed dead and she’d return with the villain.

So it is just a matter of time before any show gets ruined. Max 2-3 months a show could possible be decent. Beyond that the show could be watchable for at most 1.5 years. Beyond that no one can help.

I beg to differ..there are shows that have maintained sanity till the very end...may be you haven't come across them..but it's not your fault either such shows barely get appreciated..

That's what I am saying TV needs change like bollywood...if a show gets ruined after some time..why give trps to it...stop watching it..like how thugs was rejected it didn't matter it came from Amir Khan who had series of blockbusters before ...

At the end won't you love to see your favourites getting appreciated for being part of good content?

I also have favourites who are part of those cheap drama...but I don't watch them bcoz it has my favorites ..I mean c'mon why to go through the pain just to see them..though I used to do it a couple of years ago but not now....they probably won't even know we take so much pain for them🤣

Ppl who like to watch it ...it's their taste and choice..if they like it they watch it...and no one can stop it

More than the actors I have learnt to fall in love with the characters.

That is the whole point. No show that runs for long can maintain the quality. And no show that doesn’t run for long would have a greater recall value than a show that runs for years. Even today Kyunki is such a popular show. Not because of its storyline, but because it ran for 8 long years with record breaking TRPs.

P.S. I have never watched Kyunki and I don’t care about it myself.

I think kyunki was one of a kind ...I remember my whole family watching it and don't kick me for this but it was entertaining in the initial run...but now this has become a formula...bada parivaar bade log Adarsh bahu vamp blah blah har show me yhi....if PPL try to make different shows. Either they are not appreciated to the level they deserve or are rejected completely...a lot of PPL watch bcoz they have their favorites in them or off-screen drama or stuff that is not related to the story or characters anyway.

It is difficult to understand the dynamics of trps.

why is Sony okay with online ratings.

OTT platforms started in 2015 or earlier ? Sony has expensive mythology bases series @ of 0.8 or 1.0 and are still running.

GECs which just consider trps also have to budget episodes. Cost is shared between PH and channel. Weddings, outdoor locations, gana bajana , burning cars, fight sequences require more funds. Salaries of ITV stars. If estimates are 6 to 7 lakhs per day, fees, rentals, overhead chgs all need to be considered. Actors have their price tags. Stars like Shaheer may take 1.2 to 1.5 per epi and others have their chgs. Ad revenue can dip subject to ratings. Why will the producer incur losses.

That is why Zee off late are signing cheaper stars for high voltage drama and making money.

As far as SP is concerned, it is imperative that they consider online views also as they are uploading content prior to prime time and in name of trps shutting down shows. It does not make sense.

With established, expensive stars who come with a price, the broadcaster aims for 2 or 2+ . Unfortunately YRHPK isn't getting those kind of numbers.

😱😱😱😱 In the whole debate and discussion going on this thread, I think I can only focus on this 😱😱😱😱

SP bought IPL rights and got maximum views on HOTSTAR during IPL. They invested in other sports like KABADI and their sister channels run all major cricket tournaments. According to SP head interview, they will concentrate digital platforms and sports considering future. May be, they are giving priority to HOTSTAR and releasing first. It feels, their first priority is cricket which makes huge revenues.

YHM is getting less TRP but still in air. But when it comes to competing with colors, they don't leave any stone.
