The first sari reminds me of the sari in desi girl song.

I'm not sure if dancing around like that without a blouse or bra is appropriate..

I learned that this is how Indian people wore saris before the British introduced the blouse during British rule. I don’t think the sari in its truest form is inappropriate plus Priyanka and the editor Laura were just having fun behind the scenes here.

Nobody is rocking the sari without a blouse or bra. There are some shocking variations of what a blouse is but its still there. It just seems like a piece of cloth thrown on her in the name of skinshow. I dont think westerners identify with a sari being worn like this. Yea she's having fun and its for a cover but for a video and to have her bouncing around with a net fabric is a bit risky.

The BLOUSE is British. Everyone wore saris like this before and even now there’s some places that still do. A bare back shouldn’t really be such a big issue.

Err.. That's how actually how saree is supposed to be worn traditionally. In Bengal and also at some places in the South, elder women in the villages still wear it without blouse.

Blouse was once condemned as a sign of western culture and women oc traditional families were not allowed to wear it.

In Bengal , women of Tagore family first started wearing blouse with sarees and that too because they're deeply influenced by the British.

In other words , blouse itself is a western thing.
