To be fair to both mega stars, they did the best of films, which were available in their respective eras. Both were offered the best; whether they could do those or not is another matter. For example, Darr and 1942 A Love Story, both were for Madhuri and Javed Akhtar had revealed that he had written "ek ladki ko dekha toh aisa laga" keeping Madhuri Dixit in mind.

Now, about being better......there is no dispute that both stars had most expressive faces. But for being better.....what kind of films exactly Sridevi had? We all know what kinda films were there in 80s. If you try to recollect any Sridevi movie....you'll only remember her for Sadma, Chalbaaz and Mr.India, Nageena. she did nothing different except doing "dancing with"- "Jumping Jack- Jeetendra". I never have and never would consider her better. There is something with Sri fans who love starting fan wars....out of insecurity or pride I don't know.

But as far as Madhuri is concerned.....you not just recollect her dance numbers...but also Dil, Saajan, 100Days, Anjaam, Mrityudand, HAHK, Devdas, DTPH, Beta, jamaai raja, Khel, Khal Nayak, Pukar etc. Madhuri is a complete package of acting, aura, charishma, talent, super star power, dance; good looks (natural too....not done by plastic surgery!)

Like Madhuri but Sridevi is love.

Madhuri's career was in Bollywood. Sridevi has worked in five industries. She has been working since the age of 5. In terms of filmography, films like Chaalbaaz and Mr. India wouldn't even figure anywhere in the top of the list - for her best work you have to look at tamil and Telugu films. I can't comment on her work in kannada and Malayalam because I don't have much of an idea.

Overall, in my opinion, you can't compare them based on their volume and variety of work. It is a very uneven comparison and well, Sridevi wins. There was no one like her - no one who made her mark in five languages - and there can be no one like her in future.

But specific to Bollywood, I preferred Madhuri in her prime compared to Sridevi. Also gotta admit that she hasnt been able to reinvent herself in her comebacks in terms of mannerisms and nuances. Sridevi could .

Sridevi hands down

She was ruling not one but 2 industries at the same time.

A true superstar, a feat not achieved by anyone.

Tamil, Telugu and Hindi

To succeed in an industry without having a strong foothold of the language ( Hindi) is unbelievably amazing.

She also had the best comeback with English Vinglish and Mom.

Madhuri success can only be attributed to her splendid dance. She was lucky to rise to the top where dance and masala were at the peak. But taking nothing away from her, she was a superstar as well who took forward the legacy of Sridevi. I wish she had a better 2nd life though, I wonder why she isn't getting scripts like Sridevi did post her comeback.

Is this even a question? Of course, Sridevi. Nobody is able touch her. She had done like 300 movies from 4-5 industries and she ruled both North and South industry for couple of years. Madhuri was only popular in the North and her dancing skills were her only factor that made her a star. I think her career wouldn't go that far if Divya Bharti were alive and Divya would've been a better competitor with Sridevi because Divya was also popular both in the North and South like Sridevi. With acting, forget about Sridevi, even Kajol, Rani, Tabu and Vidya Balan are better than Madhuri. She might be better actress than Juhi, Ash and Karishma but she is not that great actress. Her comeback movies proved that. She would've ruined Mom and EV if she were on those movies. Even on her peak of her career, she couldn't carry a film on her own shoulder unkike Sridevi. She needed good director, good chemistry and good songs for a hit. Most of her movies are remembered for the songs. In her initial career, she gave back to back flops until Shubash Ghai took her on his wings. She also needs good chemistry with actors for a hit. First, it was her chemistry with Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff that helped her career. Then, it was her chemistry with SRK and Salman that helped her career where Sridevi didn't need any of these. Sridevi was able to overshadow her co-actors very easily. Sridevi even overshadowed actors actresses even when she made a cameo but I don't think Madhuri could ever do that. Salman Khan overshadowed her in HAHK even when he was new and she was a big star. People loved his character Prem more than her acting and character. So I would say Sridevi is best on all the aspects.

Both are equally famous. However, I personally prefer Sridevi to Madhuri. I think Sri is a far better actress, is more beautiful, and has a great screen presence compared to Madz. Madz is good at dancing. That's about it.

Um no case not closed. You have to look at their careers from beginning until present day. You cant just focus on Madhuri's prime and say Madhuri. Thats not being realistic my friend.

If you want to pick and choose lets talk about their careers from 2007 onwards? Thats what I thought. Just cuz Madhuri is in Ranbir-Alia camp you want to pick her - whatever.

Well its really subjective. Cause 2000s maybe Sridevi. But I dont think Sridevi even had a film that changed the world like Hum Aapke Hain Kaun. Both had highs and lows

One more needless Madhuri vs Sridevi thread, and once again the same old "Madhuri is not known for acting", Madhuri "can't even touch Sri because Sri shot 300 movies" BS is thrown around. Both were/are phenomenal performers. Gotta love how insecure some of Sri's fans continue to be. LMAO You won't make Sri bigger by denigrating Madhuri.
