Yes I agree in this day and age we never know when a woman will be abandoned by a man so financial independence is important. But let’s be realistic having a perfect career and perfect family is almost impossible unlike what they show or try to glamorize young women that it’s possible.Atleast in my mother’s and grandmother’s generation work load was completely shared between a man and a woman man worked and got home money and essential stuff and woman took care of home agree some people had problems but majority were fine. Now woman working outside having a career and raising a family is doing twice the work. A woman has to work outside come home take care of kids homework, cook, clean etc ..now please spare me that men are helping more now in house hold work ,they do only to certain extent for few times not consistently. So what happens now woman gets angry a man gets angry both are tired with no significant help as more and more nuclear families are coming instead of joint families and kids are left to watching this growing up.People always say oh woman is doing both career and raising family wonderful and glamorize But it’s humanely impossible in the long run.

When a woman stayed at home took care of family and kitchen doesn’t mean she is a slave. She used to make perfect meals and impart values and culture to her kids which is the future generation for that family.A man used to work hard and give that money to his wife and trust her with all his life.We don’t do that to a slave for god’s sakes. The problem is we don’t see a woman making money when raising a family so she will be called kitchen slave. When I first came to US trying to finish my medical education I saw many white women who are very well educated but chose to stay at home raising family while their husbands worked and I thought wow theses women are clueless but after 20 years of balancing career and family I understand what our ancestors did which is a perfect sharing of jobs between a man and a woman in raising a productive family and community that thrives.Women were educated in those days lol not western education Ofcourse if we decide that’s the only education we call as qualified education but our ancient education and wisdom which was imparted to next generation. The big difference between olden times and now is more materialistic achievements are labeled now as success and empowerment which in my opinion is unfortunate as people realize materialistic things and money give happiness and empowerment only to certain extent. This is not against anyone but my opinion formed after having a strong career and an amazing family for 20 years and still going on Ofcourse Will stop my rant now 😅

Something compelled me to make an account today.

My history is: I watched this soap for a few episodes and then lost interest but then caught up now and then on this forum (thanks to the updaters- can't appreciate your patience enough).

Sorry for going off topic, introducing my history.

@Sammy, I agree with most of what you said.

@Sanathana- Have you ever thought or recognized why women have been treated like second class citizens for a large part of time (they still in a lot of contexts). We didn't have the right to vote let alone have a say in making law.

Nothing wrong in "home maker" role, but dear, it was used against women for a long time.

And that's the patriarchy that ruled women all along. Sadly even women became part of that and accepted/ruled other women. It did work to raise kids and all that but created a society that looked down on women.

And this Pragya, and all other heroines are a part of that patriarchal society. Anything different in these soaps becomes a Tanu, Aliya- the immoral ones.

Pragya did not even pursue her career ever after marriage. All her time was spent in protecting her husband who wasn't a baby, exposing truths to him in a way that he wouldn't believe, trying to protect the family and all that. There was no individualist persona for Pragya unlike Abhi who always remained a rockstar despite what happened in his personal life.

By the way, Pragya isn't empowered

1. Because she bloody couldn't get out of her marriage which was a sham.

2. She couldn't kick a third wheel out of her house.

3. She couldn't question her husband who never believed her.

Well, then the story became so ridiculous that it's illogical to even talk let alone discuss it.

So basically Pragya was this poor woman who always played hide and seek because reality was too much for her to deal with.

Ekta cares a damn about showing her female leads in respectable jobs/ having a budding career. She only cares about making sure there is constant potential to put the female lead in a humiliating situation and treated like dirt by every character just so that viewers feel sympathy for her, so what perfect way to do that than show her jobless, a stay-at-home woman, or doing a menial job where she can be constantly put down. That is ekta's typical lazy recipe and shockingly trp audience laps up the humiliation of the female lead simply for drama.
