I think his reaction to Bua's ranting and raving was like a lot of men's who have a lot of respect for their buzurg based on outward impression since they don't know what happens in terms of kitchen politics. When they see the insider stuff they become as horrified as AJ was. I think he finally realized how seriously Bua is wrong in terms of her mindset and philosophy and that it's not enough for Guddan to prove her point. It's a fight against her soch and all the so-called cultural nuances that come with it.

It was a clever piece of writing on another level too. Women like Bua always think that women/bahus must be subservient and have no dreams of their own and must follow orders, but even such women, no matter how senior fall lower in the hierarchy than the men of the house. I loved that AJ indirectly pulled rank on her, albeit very respectfully, to show her that he was putting his faith and CID skills where he thought best as the head of the household/sasur. It was the only way for him to stop her even though he personally does not have a typical patriarchal mindset as a father/father-in-law/husband/son.

Women like Bua are victims of their own "philosophy" because their dictatorship crumbles as soon as the men of the family start to get involved in kitchen politics. All their power plays become meaningless because they discriminate against their gender, falling into the same trap themselves. One moment she was breathing fire and as soon as the "man of the house" stepped in, she couldn't argue against him or override his decisions, despite being so convinced her soch was right.

Women like these are the worst enemy of other women because they raise boys to be patriarchal and feel a sense of entitlement just because of their gender. Look at how she was insulting Vardaan's masculinity for not "controlling" his wife (as though she were a doll) and then rejoicing at Vardaan's reaction to the video and mistreatment of Laxmi. Disgusting! 😡
