Did Varun made a mistake by doing non masala films and damaged his car

Till judwaa 2 Varun was considered as unstoppable and the next Salman khan then he made back to back multiplex films like October and Sui dagga which didn't run well and degraded his popularity among mass audience at the same time, ranveer completely overtook bollywood with Padmavati and simha and made varun non existent. Now with kalank he dug his hole even deeper. He is going back to his comfort zone with coolie no2 but is it too late? Can cheap comedy like judwaa and coolies run in 2019 as audiences have matured and expecting quality content even in comedy movies. Judwaa was barely a hit and it was in 2017
