One of the most anticipated movies of the year Kalank movie hit the theatre on 17th April, 2019. The film starring Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha and Sanjay Dutt released on Wednesday, a holidays on occasion of Mahavir Jayanti earlier than its usual. It will enjoy the extended weekend of 5 days with two holidays.

The expectation of the movie was very high considering the star cast and hype it has created. As expected, Kalank opened with a bang and become biggest opener for the 2019 till date. It collected Rs. 21.60 Crore on 1st day of its release and also become biggest opener of Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. The movie got mixed review from critics. It remains to be seen how it holds on the weekend

4000 screens and hiked up prices yet it still managed only 1 crore over Kesari. That in of itself is kind of telling specially since about 3-4 weeks ago predictions were 25 crore opening. Kalank was one of the big anticipated movies of 2019. All hyped up big banner films open big or relatively big. TOH opened at close to 50cr. WOM killed that one and it will probably kill this one too.
