Abir, Mishti and some other things I'm liking

I see there's some mixed feedback about the show so far based on TRPs and other factors so I figured I'd drop in my two cents as well😆

Everyone's coming at this show from different perspectives. Some people here are fans of the lead cast, some people here are fans of YRKKH and expect a similar show. I fall in neither category.

I fall in the category of people damn happy that this show finally managed to remove the trashiness of the last three months of IB from the air👏😛😆. So with that in mind, I checked out the first few epis and wasn't too impressed...found it a bit disjointed with the entire Kuhu, Ketki, BB drama. I was considering whether this was a waste of time when the show just about managed to pull me back with epis 4 and 5...so I gave it another shot. And I've been a bit pleasantly surprised since. It is not an exaggeration to say that 90% of the shows on TV, especially on SP right now are utter trash. In the midst of all the typical gimmicky melodrama, this show has a bit of a different treatment to it IMO. A feel good factor exists.

Beyond the contrived dynamic of the sisters that the show hasn't fleshed out well, I like the rest of the family, especially Badi Maa...the lady is very elegant and graceful in her acting and demeanor. Yes, the families all randomly break out into song and dance but atleast it isn't happening on as garish and ghastly a scale as Ekta Kapoor's pathetic offerings at earlier timeslots on this channel.

On Abir's side, his Naanu, Nanko and him win the day with their easy dynamic. The conversations are free flowing without setting up high voltage drama all the time. BB provides the grey and the passive aggressive manipulations and she manages to be an effective antagonist.

But coming to the main point. I'm liking Abir-Mishti as individual characters as well as as a duo. With Abir, I'm liking his dynamic with his Naanu, his free flowing shaayaris and the way he grapples with wanting to effect change in his family and then walking away in restlessness too. With Mishti, I'm liking that she is not the typical padhaaku chashmish types despite that being her base character description. She grapples with mood swings, ego battles with her sister, she has wit and cleverness when getting back at Abir...without making it the typical spunky girl dynamic. She has a sadness in her eyes but she is not a permanently depressed character.

Then there's AM together. After a long time, I'm seeing a duo slip into an easy friendly dynamic without too many hang ups. There is none of the usual stuff about guy thinking she is stuck up and her thinking he is akdu and the huffing and puffing over that. They bicker, they banter, trade witty barbs but at the end of it they smile at each other with a glint in their eyes. He is clearly intrigued by her as is apparent from his whimsical shaayaris each time he meets her. And she smiles despite herself despite him constantly calling her a chorni and pulling her leg...she bristles but ultimately smiles and easily accepts balloons from him.

They both have their set of viewpoints and principles but neither one is actively judging the other super harshly. It's all circumstance dependent and like with the issue of this rishta fiasco, apologies are easily made and accepted without making a huge issue out of it. I liked that.

Not sure how long it's going to last but I think it's worth appreciating in a sea of utter trash on TV right now which is all about instant love, instant shaadi, instant sautan or so called wannabe tashan. This show doesn't fall into those instant gimmicks as of now.

This show has a surprisingly easy rhythm despite some annoying characters like Kuhu. lol...like it's parent show, it will inevitably be all about shaadis and evolving rishte...but they are trying to give it a contemporary touch vis a vis some questions being raised. And so far the treatment is not bad. Baaki toh time will tell.

agree to everything you said thank you for making the post but esp the bold. i like how they are actually being different in the sense ke har choti choti baat pe bakheda khade karke nahi bhaith jaate they live and let live. agar kisi se galti hui doosre ne sorry bola they smile and be mature about it . also word about the dynamic building as a friendship instant 2 mins walla pyar ya dosti nahi ho gayi jahan dekhte baad main hain ek dusre ko and TCF, eye locks and Atoot pyar pehle ho jaata hai.

i am appreciating that simplicity in all the ristas on show that earnesty between bonds. kichao hai pyar hai disagreement hai ya agreement hai it is all shown in a fairly real wa like mature people behave. they don't stand in the gully waiting for the entire desh to know about their problems and gossip unlike other shows. liek e.g their was thoda disagreemeent regarding varsha hiding the rishta kiske liye but ussi baat pe attak ke usko titles deke absolute vilaain nahi bana daala they explained to her why she was in the wrong she accepted appologized and moved on.

i really like the lack of OTT interctions and bonds and scenes. i esp like how the main leads are not sitting here to play abla bechare repeating their sob stories 24x7 tryingto force sympathize us to them. their lives don't revolve around the tragedies in past. it doesn't mean they haven't suffered their share of tough times and it doesn't hurt them but they are not going around mentioning it and making that the center of their lives and indulging in self pity. the comedy is not WTH really types. it actually is funny a times and very subtle.

Nanu Abir and Nanko are easy going and just comforting to see the. Meanwhile badi maa and mishti have this understanding and love and a lot of maturity yet the line of comfort respect and being a friends are all distinguised so beautifully. abir jokes around with hsi nana but their is still tehzeeb .

i also appreciate that the brothers put their points in a very respectful ways in front of meenaxi too they don't worship her they have their voices and even when they think she is absolutly wrong they never cross the line and despite their own personal bond with her woh jaisa bhi hai they are shown as tameezdaar bache who know how to put their point across. otherwise when you have restrained relationships makers go overboard in showing that and easily forget that tehzeeb ki line ahem you knwo who i am refering to from another show.

so yeah all and all A very refreshing show which BTW picked from week 2 and how. i hope they keep this going 😳

Beautifully written... 👏 ..

This post is like a breeze of Positivity in the forum of confusion 😆 ...
where either things are getting judged or compared very easily..
Agree to all the points you said...
There is something positive about the show as of now... don't know how long it will last...but it is there for now...
For this Rishta Drama which all were talking about... with Abhir's behavior it was clear that he will not want to marry now..so they were looking for an alliance for Kunal. Abhir is a Banjara as he said, and he is yet to be healed by by a strong bond which he will have with Mishti. Not like he does not have that bond with Nanu or Kunal...but the type of Pain he is in ,... only Mishti can understand him and help him get out of it... he still misses his father somewhere.
It will be interesting to see how the writers take their equation..

as per todays epi... Abhir is thing weather Mishti will accept Kunal's alliance...he does not know that Mishti does not want to Marry as of now.

Loads of things to look forward to in the show, lets see how they take it.

Unfortunately our indian audience has been trained by Ekta Mata ,,who expect shows like Naagin and big vamps and multiple marriages and affairs. Simple shows are not even considered...for get intelligent shows..
I hate that producer... She actually thinks Indian audience has no brains and will accept any crap she dishes ..yikes

It looks closer to reality. It is intended for current gen since it airs at 10pm. Mostly everything is being dealt with subtlety without headache melodrama minus Kuhu and Naman.

i saw today's episode and still reteriate that YRHPK has a Sony feel to it.
The main characters are broken although not given up

The Maheshwaris look very positive creatures and the thornbird is kuhu whose basic problem is that she can't share. Apart from this she is a spoilt brat.

Mishti is carrying the burden of Naman on her shoulders, obliged to the core, it looks self inflicted. Was she was illtreated in any manner ?

Apart from this relationships look healthy.

The ones who need care is Rajvanshis especially Abir and Kunal. He is not bad, calls a spade a spade, can sense trouble, loves his family members. Except his relationship with Meenakshi Rajvanshi is patchy, actually both are same. Mother and Son will not bend down in front of each other or others unless there is a reason to. Kunal too has a voice but it is not heard like his brothers. He is too good to be true.

Even after all this the characters are balanced and human. Abeer is a wanderer and not someone who stays in front of him mom, it gives an impression that to avoid situations which can become volatile he runs away ( dynamics can change)

Now here is the problem, those who watch TV either are in love with Alpha Gamma Male, forced marriage, one side love, tom and jerry fights, these days they also like MLs and FLs who torture the other Scheming vamps and villains who inflict physical harm to extent of murder. Negative characters who bully others. Many of these characters seem to have no flaws, this negative power is loved by many. It is not good over evil but the other way around. SP is also a similar show soon, it looks like many are waiting to watch i

it is like a mannequin, the more attractive it looks or is decked up, attention and focus will be more vs clothes that are simple which just satisfies wants and needs.

So realistic or simple characters who have their plus and minus points may not very attractive to those who are flamboyant ones. Gecs like SP relate more to later ones and this one has all the makings of a Sony show. my opinion is based on what i saw last week. Actually i like these personalities but for the sake of trps everyone gets butchered.

TRP is not low but the fall cannot be ignored.

Haha hey Charu, long time😆

Word on there being a little TOO much trash out there...TV always had plenty of trash but right now the trash levels are extra out of hand with no character development and just random trashy gimmicks. So that makes me more kindly disposed towards this show despite it having it's share of story issues too😆

Haha thank you...yes, the main motive of this post was to talk about the fact that positive things exist in this show that are worth appreciating cuz they are very rare on TV right now :)

@bold: I like how you described their equation :) I'm actually pleasantly surprised by how they are showing AM ka bonding over that pain without being in your face about it. I wasn't so sure in the early epis when I thought it will be like a typical sob story of mommy or daddy issues and instant bonding...but they made it gradual...not everyone may connect cuz it seems a bit of a flimsy issue on the surface...that both their fathers abandoned them but what has worked for me is the way Abir has joined the dots together vis a vis Naman and feels a connect towards the way she is trying to push back against the pain her father is trying to cause her, the way she's trying to be strong and brave. The fact that he expresses this admiration through his whimsical shaayaris about her is also a nice touch without really being sappy.

Then there is angle of him feeling protective towards Mishti as a result...somehow it has evolved naturally without feeling put on. He now feels a connect towards her but his basic personality is restless...that banjara mode. So even while he's drawn towards her, he doesn't go around actively seeking her out...yet...circumstances bring them in front of each other. But whenever they do, he is charmed by her and manages to charm her in turn even as she bristles over his taunts😆

Now with this new angle of the rishta flip...the complications increase...lol the hospital scene today was really indicative of that conflict inside him. He now hesitates to hold her hand since she is being considered as a possible match for his brother but the moment she calls out in pain, he instantly envelopes her hand with his own and continues to assure her that he will be there. She's manages to extract a promise from him even in a delirious state😆...he will feel obligated to keep it now.

Then there's Naman who invariably is becoming the reason for AM drawing closer. The moment Abir sees Naman, he forgets his intent to back off and let the Kunal-Mishti rishta happen...and goes rushing back to hover over her protectively again😆

I guess they are building up this intrigue for now...which way will the chips fall. Kunal is like a pawn in all this too between his mother and brother. Haha let's see.😆

Word to all this, Fary :)

There's many elements that are surprisingly downplayed by usual TV standards. This is not the first time we are seeing a mom son angst wala angle. But somehow there is still something different about it. Abir is not the typical brooding ML giving his mom the silent treatment due to clashes with her. Nor is Meenu the kind of mom secretly conspiring to control Abir. She already knows he is out of her control 😆. What they have is a battle of wits, a game of one upmanship in the battle for the soul of the family. Meenu fights the battle in a Machiavellian fashion while Abir's approach is a bit more Krishna like. lol they are both manipulating ppl in the house. Just for different types of influence. Kunal is the best example of this. Even though Abir claims Meenu manipulates Kunal, Abir is doing the same by making Kunal sit at Mishti ka bedside so that her family likes him 😆

Then there is AM. I'm still kinda amazed at how easy their dynamic is. Ek dusre ko Kuch bhi bol lete hain in terms of taunts but don't really take serious offense. It's ironic cuz everyone thinks Mishti is quiet like Kunal but in reality she has a sharp side to her that only Abir seems to have seen 😆. The family thinks she's like a docile type cuz she wears glasses and simple dresses. But she's quite a spitfire too if you cross her. Abir is the one who matches her wit. Not Kunal. Woh toh Munna hai 😆
