Kesari has the highest first week(7 days) 2019

Kesari recorded the highest first week of the year so far with collections at around 100 crore nett. The film beat the next best on the list Gully Boy by a decent margin.



Both Kesari and Gully boy were a Thursdayrelease so had an extended weekend which helped the collections. Kesari will be hoping to go the Total Dhamaal way rather than the Gully Boy way post the first week onward.



The film is the highest first week total for an Akshay Kumar starrer after 2.0 (Hindi) which did almost 128 crore nett while Toilet Ek Prem Katha is next best at 94 crore nett apprx.

In terms of Gross figures the collections of Kesari and Toilet Ek Prem Katha are very similar.


There have been six films topping topping the 50 crorenett mark in week one in the first 12 weeks of the year which is a pretty good return. The bigger tests lay down the road as the bigger event films have to go past the 200 crore nett mark in a week.



The top first week collections on 2019 are as follows. All collections are for seven days.



1. Kesari - 1,00,00,00,000 apprx



2. Gully Boy - 93,50,00,000



3. Total Dhamaal - 92,24,00,000



4. Uri The Surgical Strike - 71,23,00,000



5. Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi - 56,56,00,000



6. Luka Chuppi - 53,10,00,000



7. Badla - 37,78,00,000



8. The Accidental Prime Minister - 18,18,00,000


9. Thackeray - 16,83,00,000



10. Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aia Laga - 16,15,00,000

So KJo continues laughing to the bank?! ...

Should have done much more, whatever the reason, the movie is a hit or even super hit(depending on how it will do tomorrow, second Friday) but should have been a blockbuster.
Anyways I am going today, lets see whether it is as good as some critics or it is not so good as Kjo's biggest chamchas Rajeev and Anupama said.
