Hi,

Can I suggest something? This is a good initiative but in my perspective, there is no point asking to ban this show. Because this isn't and won't be the first and last show to portray and romanticise violence against female lead. Even if this show goes off air, there may still be another similar show in the future. Instead of asking to ban show, can we broaden the scope of this petition and request for the Indian Broadcasting Federation to implement stricter regulations on ITV against regressive content such as promoting violence against woman, children abuse, superstitions etc? This would help to rid ITV of its evils in the long-term and this intervention is greatly needed.

First, thank you all for the response on this post.

This is the least we can do to ensure this kind of violence and abuse is not promoted on ITV.

LLH, you make a great point but the problem is a general plea is likely to fall on deaf ears.

In our country, it's mostly specific examples that lead to change. People don't pay attention to trends.

I created a petition specifically on this show because if enough people notice it and make an example of this show, maybe show makers will be careful not to use female suffering as a plot device for male rehabilitation in the future and also not pass off abuse as romance.

Thankyou for taking this intiative.I have also complained, let's see what happens.Few weeks back I saw a promo of some zee show called raabta where the male lead has tied FL to his jeep and was dragging her like animal and even put a big rock on her feet and sadly that show topped charts last week and coincidentally that show is also made by female.

Ugh don't remind me of that. It disturbs me even more that the protagonist in the show- Reem Shaikh is super young. They don't even spare teenagers.

If more people had complained during Iss Pyaar Koh Kya Naam Doon or Ishqbaaz or a million other Gul Khan shows where the ML was giving the FL bruises in the name of passion' then this show might not have been allowed to lower itself to this level.

This could be the reason they decided to revamp the show and bring in more actors so that they could change the storyline.
