Exclusive: Alia Bhatt to star in Arunima Sinha biopic

The actress has given her nod for the filmand scripting is happening at this moment

Alia Bhatt who is riding high on the critical and commercial success of Zoya Akhtar's recently released Gully Boy and has a great line-up with ambitious films like Kalank, Brahmastra and Sadak 2 to follow-up, has got one more interesting project in her kitty. The 25-years old much-loved actress has now signed a biopic which might turn out to be a landmark film in her career.

Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that Alia Bhatt will star in the biopic of the world's first woman amputee to scale the Mount Everest, Arunima Sinha. The biopic will apparently be based on her book aptly titled "Born Again On The Mountain: A Story of Losing Everything And Finding It Back and depict the trails and tribulations Arunima has faced to achieve all her success in life. As per our sources, Alia has given her nod and scripting is happening at this moment with Arunima being closely involved in the process.

"Producer Vivek Rangachari of Dar Motion Pictures has teamed up with Karan Johar's Dharma Productions to jointly produce this biopic, a source close to the project informed us.

Alia, our sources say, has been asked to gain weight so that she would look convincing in her role as weight is of paramount concern in mountaineering. She will also undergo several pieces of training to prep up for the role to adapt to the body language of a mountaineer and a differently-abled person.

The yet-untitled film is expected to go on floors after Alia completes the shooting for her dad Mahesh Bhatt's Sadak 2 that rolls next month. Dharma Productions has apparently roped in Masaan fame Neeraj Ghaywan to tell the courageous story of this UP girl to the big screen. Although all other details of this project have been kept under wraps, we heard the biopic will be filmed in Lucknow and other cities which are yet to be decided.

Arunima Sinha's story is an unforgettable tale of hope, courage, and resilience. She was a National level Volleyball player who was pushed out of a moving train by robbers while attempting to fight them off. The horrific accident cost her left leg but it never deterred her and a year later scaled the highest peak becoming the first female amputee to have done so.
