^^ I honestly take Dr. Hippo's post as a fun 'taking the mick' not necessarily an outright contemptuous attack. And he loves SRK and adores Anushka.. so ... if he's able to criticise Anu..well, then..he's an unbiased person.
A gentle ironic mock-commentary.
And TBF to Hippo yes.. movies do have things removed from reality.. just that Zero has too many - it's like the Gallery of the Absurd. So he's just pointing out that.
(srsly, a gun in a prestigious, scientific conference room is US-with all the Sec Check US has on everything from school, to airport to conferences- is something way far removed from what anyone expects.. the rest are just..hilarious takes..)

Okay, see your point(s).

Maybe I've become a bit too touchy with all that negativity and meanness, movies and people get since some time.

this is a better representation than the film could actually make!
On tv there are shows like someone becomes naagin fly etc.there is a market for such absurdity.but then those ppl watch it knowing the absurdity that is in store for them n they are willing to get entertained in that fashion too. that is hardly anyone is in want of logic rationality then n there.

now comes in zero.by the promos it promises to show off bit of a space story with mars mission n all. now when u throw in magic supernatural the genre its gets clubbed to is fantasy. there u really do not seek reality. but when u suddenly have a rocket a space mission astronauts nasa thrown in the mind is getting prepared to watch a sci-fic n the Indianness permits the mind to tolerate songs too. but the analytical mind refuses to swallow in that science n nonsense can dwell together. the first question that comes to mind abt a film is who are ur target audience? children? teenagers? young lovers? couples? adults? seniors? the educated? uneducated? or as many as u can sell it to? now who does zero cater to? children? no. young lovers couples? no. will the autowala sabjiwala chaiwala interested to see space walk rocket launch etc? no.
will the educated able to bear that a 10th pass went to mars? no. man ur going mars not mumbai. can educated mind buy it that the woman who struggled n crawled to pick up the pen can forget the insulting words coming out of a man just because one fine day he decided to play early holi with u? no. can a science lover digest that a wheelchair marathon is a romantic climax than a car lift that would have looked more logically acceptable?no.
in fact I can't even buy this that a scientific mind can fall in love with a man of lesser refinement as aaifa was physically restricted not mentally shunted.everything abt zero seems to have been taken for granted. it transpires the makers thought that we have srk even if he poops that poop will be sold out.there is no need of practical feasibility of events to be shown. but no in the age of internet n science when u cannot even sell us the concept of Gods without evidence from historical geographical scriptural records no man or woman is a fool to not reject irrationality n inconsistency in the narrative.

I fully understand your point of view, JustMySelf.

However there had been people who really liked the movie (apart from me ;) ) so did they fall through the net of the "targed" ones you mention?
How come that they enjoyed the movie? (although I myself only know 3 persons personally who enjoyed the movie without knowing much about Hindi cinema, one not even knowing about SRK... I think it isn't only because of being SRK's fan)

Actually, I felt well entertained as the child in me and the adult could enjoy the movie.
