The movie likely won't post the numbers like Veere Di but I think it'll find a lot of appreciation for showing an LGBT love story. I think MWAS was the only other movie with a lesbian love story angle in recent time?

Even during her Player, Thank you years she was working with A-list directors paired against A-list actors, getting A-list endorsements.

I'd debate the a-list directors but I'm not familiar enough with her pre 2013 movies. Definitely agree on the a-list endorsements and that's what matters since it's where they get paid. The l'oreal / cannes partnership is probably the best matched collaboration for any celeb.

Verging off topic but did l'oreal stop having Sonam endorse their hair line? Such a weird move since she literally has the best hair out of all current actresses.

SLB was and is still one of the top Bollywood director

2009 - Delhi 6

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra was fresh of Rang De Basanti succesand Abhishek Bachchan was still hot property at the time

2010 - Hate Luv Storys

At the time, only few people got to star in a Dharma production movie and Punit (Manish's nephew) was one of the new directors Karan was launching.

She also starred opposite Imran who was deemed as one of the most promising star of Bollywood alongside Ranbir.

Aisha - Aisha Kapoor

It was hers and her sister's first venture at a time when actresses rarely produced their own movie (at least not their contemporaries).

2011 - Thank You

Anees Bazmee was a family friend and had hits like Welcome, No Entry and Singh Is King in his kitty

2011 - Mausam

This movie was a big-budgeted movie and was supposed to be big. Actually it opened on a great note but the movie was a disappointment so it failed to deliver

2012 - Players

The directors had previously delivered super-hit Race

2013 - Bombay Talkies

Only A-lister were invited to make a special appearance

This above proves to show that Sonam was an A-lister from the get go. She was only unlucky that her movies didn't work out.

Also, L'Oreal chose Sonam as their second Indian brand ambassador just behind Aishwarya who was hailed as being the most beautiful woman in the world. They could have picked anyone and I doubted they'd have settled for a B-lister.
