If this post crosses the limits as insensitive I will delete it and apologize. I hope to not cause any offence with this, that is not my intention. Just wanted some serious thoughts.

This just randomly crossed my mind. Madhuri's comeback films have all been duds, Aaja Nachle, Gulaab Gang. Sridevi comeback film English Vinglish was widely acclaimed and successful. Her last film Mom was not too Shabby either. People were saying Bucket List was like Maduri's English Vinglish but as we know Bucket list failed to get the response EV got. Because of Madhuri's poorly at the BO comeback movies, I predicted she was soon to do a Karishma and accept she was no longer viable at the box office and would have focused on other things in her life like her family or more focus on her dance program, meanwhile due to Sridevi's nice job at the BO post her comeback she would continue to get nice roles and films. Since Sridevi's death she got a role in KJO's big film that is sure to be a hit that was supposed to be Sridevi's (yes I am aware of her daughter blessings). Because of their similarities I think a lot of films that were meant for Sridevi will now go to Madhuri and now her comeback that seemed to be a failure will turn into a successful one. So now the morbidity of it all is just kind of awkward to me. Don't misunderstand, I don't think or wish ill of Madhuri or want her to fail, just wanted to see what you guys think.

Open to different opinion and insights, not saying I'm not saying I'm right.

Well to be honest. Only a certain small number of roles are written for women above 40's so with Sridevi passing those roles would certainly go to not only Madhuri but also other actress of her era.

God forbid but if we were to reverse the situation, had Madhuri passed away as morbid as it sounds and Sridevi been alive she would have gotten roles for which Madhuri would have been the first choice for as simple as that.

Madhuri's hater spotted. Anil and She are always going to work together and Karan always want to work together. She left her stardom alone as she want to go away from it as far as possible. When she returned lot of offers came up but she wanted to do something and she did but they were so different that they were not hit when they were released. She is The Madhuri Dixit. Sridevi never had such blockbusters as her but has sound knowledge in choosing good scripts that became classics with great filmmakers. Madhuri is an introvert unlike Sridevi an extrovert. So she prefers to be a homebody more and a superstar less.

Well apart from her, Juhi and Kajol too haven't been able to make their films work or get good roles.

Actually, Madhuri in comparison got a lot of opportunities - but either the script didn't work or the she wasnt able to pull in the audience.

Yes, she might get more roles like Kalank now. But she has always been in consideration for such roles. She got Shefali's role from DDD which she refused because she didn't want to play a mom I think. So it isn't as if she hasnt gotten opportunities in well-scripted films before. There might have been more such films she lost out on because of her hesitation to accept such roles.

So those opportunities were always there for her to take. It is only the films which sort of banked on her to draw audiences that stopped coming to her later on because they didn't work. So, if she still manages to get "solo-lead" roles now, the onus is still on her to make those kinds of films work , regardless of the competition.

I love Madhuri and adore Sridevi too. But please Madhuri an introvert and Sridevi an extrovert. 😕

Sridevi is textbook definition of someone you would call an introvert. Also, I don't think the TM is a Madhuri hater. This kind of discussion has been happening ever since Sridevi's demise.

In fact my mother who also loves Madhuri thinks that she will get great and more opportunities now considering roles for older women are already so less.

I think Kalank is the only project where the character was probably envisioned for Sri but due to her unfortunate demise, went to Madhuri. As far as I know, often scripts and stories are written with an actor in vision for each of the characters (I could be wrong) and I don't see why anyone would write a character befitting of Sri now when she is not amidst us. The role in Total Dhamaal was Madhuri's own and there are roles being written keeping her in mind. So unfair to say that Madhuri would have any kind of advantage out of something so unfortunate.

Sridevi was always choosy with the roles she did. Most of the films she did, she had well defined roles. So even if Sridevi was alive, she would have been very selective. I really hope the roles that Sridevi would have done doesn't go to Madhuri. Tabu will be a much better choice as Madhuri seems more interested in dancing.
Madhuri has been trying to make a comeback since Aaja Nachle. She tried to a Sridevi with Bucket List. This movie was really awful! Madhuri has always been stuck in a dancing rut! Even in Bucket List she had to dance! Personally, I don't consider her a good actress. She's an exceptional dancer but the less said about her acting the better. I'm yet to see a movie with Madhuri where I'm vowed by her acting. I've grown up watching Madhuri but was never her fan because it was always about item numbers for her.

No. Even if Sridevi was alive and had taken retirement, that would not benefit Madhuri at all. Their acting styles and script choices have always been poles apart, especially in their second innings. Madhuri's films since Aaja Nachle have mainly been more about dance and glamour while both EV and Mom have been purely performance oriented roles without glamour of any kind. So don't think either of them were ever attracted to each other's roles even after their comeback.

Sri's focus in her second innings was only and only acting and nothing else while Madhuri chose films that would have a bit of everything in it for the audience-acting, glamour,dance, etc. So they are not interchangeable hence Madhuri has nothing to gain from this tragedy. I think the only reason why Madhuri replaced Sridevi was because Kalank was already set to go on floors. Sri was supposed to reshoot her Zero song appearance and dive into Kalank right after she would be back from Dubai. By that time, they couldn't stall the film so the other option was Madhuri since the film has a dance background and she is nearly Sri's age.

But I truly ,truly feel sad that we won't get to see Sri in Kalank. This was an extremely speacial film like Karan has already stated before plus the role was written with Sridevi in mind. And probably for the first time in the last 19 years, we would actually get to see Sridevi do proper dance sequences since her character was modelled around Meena Kumari from Pakeezah like her hair dresser had said. This. English Vinglish 2. Mr. India 2. And god knows how many more such wonderful films and roles! Like Naomi Datta said, her best was yet to come and her second innings was actually going great as we were seeing Sridevi the ACTOR and not the STAR! 😭
