The trailer of Border 2 was released on Thursday evening, coinciding with Army Day. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film revisits the 1971 India Pakistan war, expanding its scope across land, sea and air. Featuring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahaan Shetty, the project positions itself as a large scale war narrative for contemporary audiences nationwide today alone.
The three minute and thirty five second trailer opens with sweeping combat imagery, from battalions charging forward to naval fleets cutting through hostile waters. Aerial sequences underline the scale, while action led by Diljit Dosanjh anchors early momentum. The film then moves into personal backstories, showing families, quiet moments, promises of return and looming uncertainty during wartime separation scenes unfolding.
Sunny Deol remains a dominant presence throughout the trailer, delivering forceful lines and leading from the front. In a key moment, he lifts a phone and declares, “Hume kya haraoge. Arey tumhare Pakistan me itne log nahi jitne humare yahan Eid par bakre kaate jate hain”, setting the confrontational tone that defines the film’s approach to war and conflict portrayal.

Brief appearances by Mona Singh, Anyaa Singh, Sonam Bajwa and Medha Rana focus on waiting, fear and resilience back home. These moments balance spectacle with quieter human stakes, reflecting the parallel struggles faced by soldiers and their families during extended periods of uncertainty and separation nationally.
Border 2 differs from the 1997 film by emphasising coordination between the Army, Navy and Air Force rather than a single frontline. The multi front narrative highlights strategic planning and collective effort, portraying the war as a unified national response. This broader canvas attempts to contextualise sacrifice beyond individual heroism, without straying into excessive sentiment or overt nationalism often seen.
Presented by Gulshan Kumar and T Series in association with J P Dutta’s J P Films, Border 2 arrives as a major Republic Day release. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film is scheduled to release in cinemas on January 23. With its emphasis on scale, history and duty, the trailer signals a serious war drama aimed at mainstream audiences nationwide.
