Hi Guys,
It is believed that Lakshmi and Radha are the same.

But why the difference? Why are they shown as different people? Why are Radha and Rukmini different?

At first glance this is what we see.
We see Krishna being with Radha and then Rukmini. We see Vishnu with Lashmi in Vaikuntha and Krishna with Radha in Gokul.

But we should always remember that mythology is full of symbolism. Each character or scenario is not always straight forward. It always represent something.

Do you remember Kalia-Naag? Yes, he was an asura. But he also represented our ego and ahankar, isn't it?

I believe Radha and Rukmini represents something meaningful.

Vishnu and Lakshmi are the providers of this universe. They are the ones who make sure everything runs smoothly. Can we say they are the parents who look after this world as their children?

Kishna and Rukmini similarly fulfill a role. As husband and wife, they have a part to play in this world.

Vishnu-Lakshmi play the role of parents.
Krishna-Rukmini play the role husband and wife bound by the strictures of the society.

And Radha - Krishna play the role of lovers.

Aren't we all like that? Do we not become different person depending on the situation? I can be a wife. This role comes with certain responsibilities. I can be a mother which gain comes with certain responsibilities. I can also be a lover where my only responsibility is to love.

All these roles are part of our life. And even if we are wives/husbands, we should also take time from our lives to become lovers. We should experience the joy of being in love without the bounds of a 'role'. We should experience the 'Ras' of the life. We should all be part of rasleela.

Love
Kshithi

Wow, well said! Totally agree with you!:D

IMO, Lakshmi, Seeta, Radha, Rukmini al of them love the same entity- Vishnu. But the nature of their love varies.

Lakshmi always takes, and demands a seat beside, and equal to that of Vishnu. He never denies of course. Here, Vishnu does all the "preservation" work while Lakshmi provides him with the means/resources to do so.

Seeta is apparently subservient to Ram, but trust she leaves not one chance to speak her mind. She does not revolt in the common sense but she could tear you to pieces with her words. Seeta stands firmly beside Rama and keeps him on the right path all along while he tries to live life like a ordinary human with extraordinary expectations laden on him.

Radha is always apprehensive, and tries her best to keep Krishna comfy and happy. This probably stems from the fact that she's older than him, but mostly because she understands Krishna very well. She gives him the power to go ahead and change the world without any obligations behind him.

Rukmini on the other hand secures her place beside Krishna out of sheer trust. She gives Krishna the mental support he needed while he fought alone against the entire world.

This way, all the women in Kanha/Vishnu's life basically drive him forward which forms the basis of the thought that the Purush cannot work without the Prakriti.

Radhirani Lakshmi and her various bhaavs is what becomes the medium for Vishnu to sustain the world. The bhaavs comes in accordance to the need of Vishnu. Radha for showing love, Rukmini for showing trust, Sita for showing path, each has their role. So we cant compare them. All are bhaavs of Lakshmi only.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to compare. I just tried to highlight the different forms of Lakhmi's love for Vishnu! :)

Wonderful analysis beautifully expressed. All these goddesses are the shades of Laxmi and her different traits.

Yaar, when did you come? I was looking for you when the show started. No IF forum about a Krishna serial is complete without Radhikerani. 😆😆
