'Jodhaa Akbar is directed by the director of 'Lagaan'. It is a historical story of a romance between the Mugal king Akbar and Jodhaa, a Rajasthani princess.
The Rajasthanis protested against the film accusing that the film shows their community in a bad light. 'Jodhaa Akbar' was not allowed to be released in Rajasthan.
In the midst of such protests, the film has created a record in collections. It collected Rs.20 crore at the end of the first week and Rs.11 crore in the second week. A total collection of Rs.32 crore in two weeks.
This historical film stands at the top making highest collection among films released in 2008. Abroad also this film was received very well. There it collected Rs.10 crore in first ten days.
Mani Ratnam's 'Guru' recorded a collection of Rs.28 crore in two weeks. 'Jodhaa Akbar' has beaten that.
