I think this glamorization and BW candy flossing of the word sex symbol made people think like it is something great, while basically it means how much a sexually appealing person is to attract another person to have sexual desire for the former, but in a mass scale.

Lead actresses are never sex symbols. When the word sex gets attached, the actress gets reduced to B-grade films like Bipasha. Priyanka and Katrina were never sex symbols. Hot, yes. Sex symbols, no.

In a way, KJo has very impressively constructed Alia's career. She has reached to the top with candy floss rom-coms and niche women oriented films. It will be interesting to see what the rest of them do.
