Heroes and Villains
Guruji, Mrityunjay, and Tara poofed to the place they had visited before while following the mist. Kalavati had already reached there and had started her ritual. She was sitting inside a circle made of bones. In the circle, she was sitting beside a disc-like structure - the Vault. Her eyes were closed and her lips were moving feverishly whispering some chants. They hid behind the bushes.
Guruji looked up at the sky. The moon in the sky was much bigger than usual but it had started to darken a little and was not as bright as earlier. The planets were rearranging and soon the partial eclipse would start.
"We need to start acting on our plan soon," he thought. He looked at Tara who was already looking at him and nodded. She and Mrityunjay had also noticed the change in the moon. She then turned to Mrityunjay and quickly kissed on his forehead before leaving.
She walked two steps towards Kalavati but was still hidden from her view and closed her eyes. She stretched her hands towards the sky and moved her fingers in the air. She curled her fingers, forming a fist, and brought it in front of her and opened her palm. As soon as her palm opened, strong winds started blowing in the area where Kalavati was sitting. But it didn't affect Kalavati a bit as she continued her chanting.
Seeing this, Tara again closed her eyes and when this time she opened her palm it started raining heavily on Kalavati. This caused her to open her eyes. Tara smirked seeing her magic had fulfilled its purpose.
But her victory was short-lived. Kalavati looked at her surroundings but didn't see anyone. She chanted a spell and the rain stopped. She took a knife and cut her palm and squeezed the cut a bit, letting the blood fall on the Vault. She again started her chant closing her eyes. Tara scrunched her nose in disgust. She saw Kalavati pressing somewhere on the Vault. Tara was unable to make out what Kalavati was pressing because of the low light of the moon but soon where Kalavati had pressed earlier started glowing.
Tara was stunned seeing the glowing symbols. She also noticed them moving to rearrange themselves. She remembered that Guruji had said the symbols were an anagram and as soon as they would be rearranged, the Vault would open. She tilted her head to find a shadow beginning to appear on the left portion of the moon. The time for the full eclipse was approaching. Mrityunjay followed her movement and looked up. This was the cue for him to go.
He walked towards Kalavati and said, "Now it's time for you to leave this Earth." Saying this, he lifted his sword and ran towards her. But before he could reach her, he saw the bones which were lying in a circle around her start connecting to each other and soon they were in the shape of human skeletons with swords. They were mechanically moving towards Mrityunjay. He stopped. Guruji and Tara were astonished at this.
Tara and Guruji lifted their swords and joined Mrityunjay to fight the skeleton army. One by one, the skeleton army was moving towards them, encircling them. Tara, Mrityunjay, and Guruji stood with their backs to each other ready to fight them.
A skeleton launched itself at Mriyunjay. He fended it off. Soon Tara and Guruji were also fighting with the skeleton army. After a few minutes, Tara, Mrityunjay, and Guruji got separated from each other. Tara saw Guruji surrounded by many skeletons and sprang towards him. She was slashing the skeletons swiftly with each strike of her blade to reach him but she felt their army growing in number. Then she realized as many times they were cutting down the bones, new parts from those broken bones were sprouting, forming into a new human skeleton. It resulted in increase of the skeleton army. It had now tripled from its initial number.
The King and his men were near the same location when they heard the clinking of swords and rushed towards it. On the way, they were joined by the second group of their men who had reached there as well. When they arrived on the spot, they froze seeing the army of skeletons. The King soon noticed Kalavati sitting nearby with her eyes closed and chanting spells. One knight pointed the King towards Tara.
When he looked at her, he was relieved. The King smiled seeing her once again. Then he saw Govind fighting beside her. Few paces away from Govind, he saw a man of strong build fighting the skeletons and he realized that this must be his son. His heart swelled with pride seeing such a perfect warrior. He and his knights joined the three in fighting the skeletons.
Tara noticed them. The King reached Tara in the middle of the fight and yelled between fighting off the skeletons, "You need to get away from here with my son, now."
While he was talking to her, a skeleton came and swung its sword towards him. But before it could cause him any harm, Tara pushed the King aside gaining a cut on her arm. "I cannot leave my King!" she yelled continuing her fight.
The King looked around and saw there was no way she would be leaving this battle when there were so many skeletons around them. Tightening his hold on the hilt of his sword, he lunged at a nearby skeleton. Seeing there was no end of the skeleton army, Tara pulled herself out of the fight and stood stretching her arms in front of her, palms facing the sky. She closed her eyes and concentrated. When she opened her eyes, she brought both her palms together causing the skeleton army to gather at one point from wherever they were fighting.
Everyone was stunned at the sudden loss of the enemy. The King's eyes fell on Tara who was chanting some spell. He was surprised. He realized she was a witch. Tara closed her eyes once again and tied them with magic. She then lifted them in the air and tossed them far away from there.
"Tara, total eclipse is approaching. Hurry!" Guruji yelled.
She tilted her head up and saw the moon was slightly reddish and half covered by the earth's shadow. She then snapped her vision at the Vault and saw the totem and the eye had swapped their positions. She closed her eyes again to alter the weather causing sudden heavy rain with thunder on Kalavati. This time when Kalavati opened her eyes, she saw Tara standing in front of her just a few paces away.
"You little girl! You have caused too much trouble for me. I will end you today." Saying this, she threw a lighting spear towards her.
Tara quickly shielded herself by stretching her hands in front of her. The spear stopped in front of her palms.
Kalavati was shocked to see this. She didn't know that the girl she was looking for, now, knew magic. Kalavati closed her eyes and suddenly out of nowhere, Tara saw sandmen started rising out of the ground. Everyone was stunned with this. This was the same as skeletons, they were invincible. As much as they cut them down, as many new sandmen were getting created.
Seeing this, again Tara closed her eyes and conjured water. She brought her palms together and slammed them into each other causing the sandmen to melt due to water.
Kalavati smiled. Tara might be a witch but was a naive one as she required to close her eyes each time to cast a spell. Seeing Tara distracted, Kalavati again conjured a lighting spear and threw it at her. This time it struck her. She felt a shockwave burst into her body causing her to buckle on her knees. Mrityunjay rushed towards her but suddenly from nowhere he was trapped in a cage of bones. He looked at others and found them caged as he was.
