I think the point here is about happiness And getting hurt. If Kunal can vow never to cheat on Mauli again , if he can vow never to look at another woman again, if he can promise to love her and be faithful to her and keep her happy forever then she can take her chances with him. But kunals track records is not good. He promised to do all the above the first time around when he married Mauli but he didn't fulfill any of it. So can she trust him again this time..can she guarantee that he will not meet another nandini in future.,and the most important thing of all does he love her ...I think that's what we mean by self respect ...how can Mauli put herself at risk of getting hurt again. And if Kunal doesn't love her he can possibly fall in love with someone else ... we just feel Mauli needs to protect and prevent herself from getting hurt because we viewers don't trust Kunal lol.. BUT at the end of the day, it's a fictional story where the writers can write anything they want. They can show Kunal asking for forgiveness and promising to love Mauli and then living happily forever with her and his 2 daughters..

I agree with you till now she hasn't done anything that is against her self respect. I think most of the people fear that she will go with Kunal in the end which I think no one wants since Kunal is not even showing any regret . Hopefully that will not happen.

If the character is reunited with kunal i personally will dislike her as i expected better from how she has been written. For me she will have no rooting value. No way and yes she would have compromised her self respect. No woman hearing such things and choosing to be return would embody self respect.

A better choice would be to remain single

I'm very disappointed with the writers. Even after making Mauli a strong independent successful educated woman they are making her weak when it comes to Kunal. I agree that he was her husband and she loved him a lot , but after him hurting and degrading her so much even after she has not seen him for 6 whole years ..she still loves him. So she is pining for this cheater. It's true even in real life lots of smart successful women who have been hurt and cheated by their husbands do give them a second chance .sadly lots of times these men still go on to have more EMAs until the wife finally says enough is enough .but in those instances those women did not have this long separation of 6 years from their husbands. I really think that the writers should have used this serial to empower women .they should have shown us that after 6 years Mauli has moved on and realised that she was too good for Kunal . So women out in the world will know that even after a failed marriage you can still get happiness a second time around. Even if one man was a cheater and pig, there is another man out there who is wonderful and who will love you like you deserve . Looking at twitter I think all most all of the viewers are feeling this way now ...
