Bubba : Shivika OS

Sitting on her bed leaning back against the headboard on a Friday night was not precisely what Annika wanted to be doing. She flipped open her Macbook and pulled up Netflix, a few tears slipping from her eyes as her thoughts were consumed by the phone call she just finished. Sidhant had just broken up with after they two had dated for eight months. He was her first kiss, her first I love you,' and he was also her first hard breakup. She didn't know how to react because she didn't see it coming at all. He had called her about twenty minutes ago and said "Annika, we need to talk, and then the end of the conversation left her in tears.

As she typed in the search bar for chick flicks to drown out her sadness, a FaceTime call appeared on her screen. Annika wished she could ignore it, but it was her best friend Shivaay, and if she clicked decline she knew he would only call her again and again. So she clicked accept.

"Hey bubba, I was thinking, what if we wait, why are you crying? Shivaay asked.

She sniffled and wiped her eyes, pulling mascara off with her fingers, "Hey.

"Ani, you're not okay, what happened? he asked, now completely serious. A drastic change from his previous happy and upbeat self moments ago.

"Shivaay I'm okay, She tried to convince herself more than him.

"No you're not, I'm coming over, I'll be there soon. he said and then quickly hung up.

Ugh. Annika didn't need Shivaay to see her like this. She knew that he wouldn't react very well to the breakup. When she had first said yes to Sidhant when he'd asked her out, Shivaay had gone to him and told him to take good care of her, and to talk things out if they got rough. Well Sidhant left her crying and Shivaay was not gonna be happy to see her like this.

After about ten or so minutes, She heard the front door open and close, Her mom say, "Hello Shivaay, Annika is upstairs in her room, and footsteps on the 16 stairs down the hall. There was a knock at her door.

"Ani? Shivaay said. "Can I come in?

"I don't want you to. She said.

He opened the door anyway, letting himself in. "Well too bad, you don't get that choice right now, he proclaimed.

"Then why did you offer it? She asked, more tears falling down her cheeks.

He quickly stepped to you, "Oh no no no, Ani, don't cry, it'll be okay, I'm here now.

He sat on her bed with Annika, and took her in his arms. He cradled her, and She wrapped her arms around his waist, hugging him as she cried into his chest.

He silently held her for a moment before he spoke again. "Ani, do you want to talk about it? Tell me what happened.

Annika pulled myself out of his chest enough to look him in the eyes, "Sidhant broke it off.

His expression went from concerned to shocked to angry to comforting in less than two seconds. "Oh Ani, he hugged her, holding her tighter. "Did he say why?

"He just wasn't feeling it anymore, his feelings had gone flat and run out. She cried into his chest, her salty tears staining his green Spartan Water Polo shirt. "He wasn't interested in me anymore.

He rubbed her back, comforting her, "Ani, it's going to be okay, I've got you. I won't let anyone hurt you anymore. He pulled her into his lap as he leaned against the headboard. "I know that it hurts, but I promise you I will never let anyone hurt you like this ever again. He kissed the top of her head and she cried harder.

"Sh...Sh...Ani, I brought you something. He said. Annika poked her head up and looked at him with her red puffy eyes. He wiped away her tears gently with his thumbs.

"What's that? She sniffled, wiping her nose.

"Ice cream. he said. "Your favorite Ben and Jerry's is in the freezer downstairs.

She smiled a feeble grin when he said that. It made her happy that he knew her favorite Ben and Jerry's.

"I'll go and get it, he said. "I'll be right back. he pushed himself off the bed, and walked to the door.

No sooner had he left, he returned with a pint of ice cream and two spoons. He plopped back down on the bed and Annika cuddled back into his chest. He popped open the lid and put it on the nightstand, then he handed her a spoon.

Taking a big bite of creamy chocolatey goodness, she smiled in bliss. He took a bite after she did, and suggested, "We should watch a movie.

He reached across the bed and pulled Annika's Macbook over, typing in her password and opening Netflix just like she had done earlier. He typed in a movie title that she couldn't see. Then it was loading in front of her.

She admired how he was so focused on making her happy. He knew her favorite ice cream, and her computer password. Annika liked that he paid attention.

But of course she paid attention to him too. She noticed how he didn't gel his hair today like he always does, and how he was wearing a tshirt because he knew he could be comfortable around her. She loved the way he carried himself confidently when he walked. She loved when he called you Bubba, it made her feel a different kind of special than other names. She picked him as her best friend for a reason.

However that may be, Annika also couldn't help but admire that when he reached for her computer, his arm was very close to her and his lean muscle was hard not to attend brain cells to. He held her tight and she could feel his strong chest, and his toned abdomen embracing her. When she looked in his eyes, she could feel herself falling in love with their shade and color. When he spoke, his deep voice entranced her thoughts. She couldn't deny that he was attractive.

"Bubba, he said. "Are you watching the movie? he asked, running his fingers through Annika's hair, twisting the ends between his first finger and thumb.

She looked up at him, "Shivaay,

"Yes? he asked.

"I just wanted to say your name, Annika said. "I like to say your name.

"I like saying your name too. he smiled.

She looked into his eyes, and he looked right back at hets, he very slowly, leaned in slightly, his starting to close. He lightly pressed his lips to hers, in a very tender kiss. He pulled away, slightly. A blush rising in his cheeks. Her heart fluttered. He smiled, and she did too.

Annika rested your head on his chest once again, and thought about what just happened. He kissed her. On the lips. With his lips. They were soft, and they pressed on hers ever so lightly, and she wanted that amazing feeling again. The soft gentleness of his love pressed to her skin, her lips. She loved him, he was her best friend.

She looked up at him again, he looked at her. "Shiv, what just happened? She asked.

"I kissed you. he said. Then he thought for a moment, "Yeah, I kissed you.

His voice saying that made Annika's heart take off in butterflies once again. She looked at his face, his smile, and his cute nose. She looked at his eyes just to see them already looking at hers. He gently placed his hand on her cheek, and held her tighter with his other. He looked from her eyes, and glanced at her lips, then his big brown eyes returned to hers. He leaned in again, and his soft pink lips pressed into hers, just like she had wished for. She leaned into him a little, pressing her lips into his slightly, and he smiled into it a little. His hand was still holding her head, and she reached her hands to the nape of his neck. She fiddled with the ends of his hair, enjoying this very much. He drew back for a breath and pecked her lips a few more times, smiling.

"Shiv, Annika said in between pecks.

"Mm? he mumbled in a husky tone, his eyes still shut, his lips just wanting to kiss her again and again.

"I don't want this to move too fast. She whispered.

He looked into her eyes lovingly, "Okay. he whispered back. He kissed her lips tenderly one more time, lingering a moment before he pulled away. "We don't have to move fast.

Annika sighed contently back into chest, smiling. Her focus going back to the chick flick he had put on. He pulled her into him, so she were resting against him, using his chest as a pillow. Her fingers drew circles and designs on his chest through his shirt as he fiddled with the tips of her hair. Her head was tucked in the crook of his neck and he leaned his down to hers and kissed the top of her head. He rubbed her back a few times, and she started to yawn.

"You can close your eyes Bubba, I'll be here when you wake up. That's what Annika heard before falling to sleep.
