Riteish is the star at wedding
By: Continued from page 1Dressed in a green sherwani, Riteish was in his element, asking the musicians to play the tutaari (local war trumpet) as his bhabhi Aditi arrived at the venue, correcting the flower arrangements and ensuring that all guests were served.
With over 1,000 guests present, which included this reporter, no wonder he looked exhausted towards the end of the function. Going by his antics, it seemed there would be the shoe-stealing rasm from the bride's side. But the Deshmukh family preferred their son getting married in true Maharashtrian style.
Khana khazana
The main rituals started at around noon and went on till 2.30 pm. There was a half-hour break for lunch. The sumptuous food at the wedding was a mix of vegetarian Karnataka and Maharashtra cuisines — bisi bele bhath, akki roti, thali peeth, usal, varan-bhath, dal makhani and a paneer dish. The khana was prepared by the in-house chefs, while the food at the reception at Turf Club today will be provided by exclusive caterers Blue Foods.
Star guests
Tight security was maintained at the hotel premises, considering the stream of VVIPs at the venue.
Politicians, industrialists and Bollywood personalities attended the wedding, which included J&K CM Ghulam Nabi Azad, Johny Joseph, actor-director Sanjay Khan, Subhash Chandra, Raj and Uddhav Thackeray, Gopinath Munde, state DGP PSPasricha and Gurudas Kamath.
Karan Johar, Manish Malhotra, Rani Mukherjee, Hema Malini and the entire crew of Aditi's television serial Saloni were also in attendance. President Pratibha Patil is expected to attend the reception.

| for better or for worse: Vilasrao Deshmukh seems to have something else on his mind even as son Amit and bahu Aditi take the plunge. Pics/urvashi seth EOF8 |
Though it was his son Amit's wedding yesterday, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh brooded through the ceremony as if it were his daughter's bidaai. The only thing that caught the CM's fancy were the mellow Marathi songs played by Kishore Manraja and his troupe. He only appeared when the pandits called him for the rituals.
On the other end of the spectrum was Deshmukh's younger son Riteish, who donned the mantle of the perfect host, keeping the guests entertained and manning all the arrangements of the wedding at the Grand Hyatt in Santacruz.
