Tamil Nadu: Man says SC has allowed adultery, wife kills her self...

CHENNAI: A police team questioning a security guard after his wife's suicide on Saturday night was prepared for some evasive reply but was stunned when the man admitted to telling her that she couldn't stop him from having an affair as the Supreme Court itself had ruled that adultery was not a crime. It was after this admission that Pushpalatha, 24, ended her life by hanging at the couple's MGR Nagar residence, a police officer said, adding that a note recovered from the house included this reason.

So she ended her life because of her cheating husband? What a loser!! Would've been better if she had killed her husband instead.

She gave up her life for a reason that didn't exist in the first place. She could never stop him from having an affair. It was her husband who lost the right to stop her from having an affair. I can't believe how people are misinterpreting the rule and taking drastic measures.

Adultery law was that a married man can sue the man his wife is having an affair with and the man can be jailed in such situations. However he cannot do the same with his wife. There was no law as such where a married woman could do the same to her husband or the woman he was having an affair with. So pretty much that woman commited suicide for nothing.

that law was very outdated.
and it was harming women more
glad it was taken out
and in this case, there was no reason for the woman to commit suicide as the even with the law the man would have continued the affair.

I think he killed her and is trying to escape by giving reasons

How funny? How was it harming women more??

Old Law:

Man cheats Wife. It was Criminal and Husband could be sued.
Wife cheats Husband. Wife could not be sued but the Man with who she was having affair cud be sued!

So, in both ways, it was the Man who was sued or arrested. Not the woman. 🤪

Now, when someone called out the Bias, the Court instead of making it Criminal for Cheating wives completely made the Law Non Criminal 👏

Adultery can be grounds for Divorce. But, not Criminal now.

Both men n women can seek divorce if their partner involves in adultery. It is not a criminal offence now. Most probably she was not open for divorce, so ended her life.

According to this law , a woman was considered a sort of a property of the husband. It was very old archaic rule. If a married woman (without the permission of her husband) has sex with another man then it was considered adultery.

You can see how wrong this interpretation of law is. Wife is NOT a property of the husband for him to give permission.

Please read what the Supreme court judge has said about this,

This is disgusting. Melords should be tried for murder.
Adultery and cheating should be a crime. Trust is all there is in a relationship otherwise salivating lusting men and women always looking for new murgi. Yuck.
Lecherous old man decided to take advantage of the law and have an affair legally as it stands now now in India and the woman didnt want a divorce and neither could she live with the thought of her husband's affair.
What a travesty.

I think at this point its best that marriage is made illegal. That's the only way forward. I guess the state will have to raise the kids if proper birth control measures are not undertaken because trust is a thing of the past. Now spouses will always suspect each other, driving themselves mad with worry.
