Filmfare Exclusive! Aamir Khan and Alia Bhatt to star in Osho biopic?

FilmfareMon, Aug 27, 2018

We were the first to tell you that director Shakun Batra is planning a film on the life of the late godman, Bhagwan Rajneesh, popularly known as Osho. It was earlier when we informed you that Karan Johar has brought the rights to Osho's life. While the film is still in its scripting stage, we hear that makers have decided to cast Aamir Khan and Alia Bhatt in the lead. Initially, it was the film's casting that generated a lot of interest amongst the fans. Now that the grapevine is abuzz that Aamir Khan will be essaying the role of Osho in the biopic, the excitement around the project has soared high.

Aamir Khan - Alia Bhatt

Coming in as an interesting development on the project, we now hear that it's Alia Bhatt who is being considered for the role of Ma Anand Sheela, the godman's secretary. A source close to the project informed Filmfare, "Aamir Khan is known to be a perfectionist with his work which is why the makers are planning to take someone exceptionally talented in the younger lot of actors. Alia Bhatt is supremely talented and she can be the perfect choice for the role.

Aamir Khan - Alia Bhatt

Before this, rumours of makers looking for a foreign actress for the role also did rounds on the internet. Well, we eagerly wait to hear an official announcement soon.

OMG! I can't get it out of my head now 😆
BTW Alia as Maa Anand Sheela sounds bleh! Anyway, why do we need a commercial movie on Osho. We all know they won't be able to show anything controversial for real. Wild Wild Country had this footage from the actual activities that happened in there where a woman was pinned down and it almost looked like a rape where apparently the activity was a part of taking the fear of men out of the woman's head. That scene was so scarring. And Wild Wild Country toh was a Documentary. A movie on it needs some actual depiction of scenes. It's too dark as a subject for a commercial film.

Dharma can afford Aamir?? Wait the deal is probably Aamir taking 80% of the profit. But than again article has "?" in the end.

Aamir only makes generic and bland movies to keep the box office as high as possible. There is no chance he will participate in anything that could be controversial.

Osho has too many followers in India to be critical or show all the horrible things things he was up to as Rajneesh. It's already been done in the Netflix documentary anyway so there is no need for a movie.

I would be shocked if Aamir did it.

Osho doesn't need Dharmafication

Highly doubt this will happen. Like others said, too bold, for Indian audience. If tamed, will be heavily panned for white washing. 😆

And hypothetically... Aamir as Osho ...mmm maybe.. but I think Irrfan has the right chops... and the super controversial disciple Ma Sheela is made for Kangana!!! Alia is too soft and young to portray the complexity.

Anyway... this ain't happening. So we can chill!

I won't be convinced Aamir is doing this until I see an official announcement and they actually start shooting. Knowing Aamir, he wouldn't do something overtly controversial. Nor would he go for a fictional biopic which overtly glorifies the subject (which would make it bland). Unless KJo has an MMS of him and Fatty. But then it's Aamir. He's wriggle out of that too 😆

I'd watch the flick for this.

But as some people pointed out, an Osho biopic made in India would be dishonest and softened. After Wild Wild Country, I just can't imagine a Dharma candy floss production doing justice.
