Matthew Hayden has stirred already troubled waters by calling Harbhajan Singh an "obnoxious weed", a comment that will only serve to further deepen the animosity between the two sides which has surfaced during India's current tour.

Speaking on a Brisbane radio station, Hayden said: "It's been a bit of a long battle with Harbhajan, the first time I ever met him he was the same little obnoxious weed that he is now. His record speaks for itself in cricket.

"There is a certain line that you can kind of go to and then you know where you push it and he just pushes it all the time. That's why he has been charged more than anyone that's ever played in the history of cricket."

The pair clashed during Sunday's CB Series game at the SCG when the Indians complained that Hayden had called Harbhajan a "mad boy".

Hayden played down the incident, accusing the Indians of complaining because "they are losing every game they are playing," (He should seriously stop smoking pot) adding: "I called him a bad boy."

"He took offence to that,. I thought that was quite funny. I said mate, you should be flattered, it's a clothing range." (Paagal hai kya be, tujhko funny lag raha hai yeh to point hi nahin hai...kal main tujhe curse karoonga to tujhe achha lagega?)

Matthew Hayden let off with a warning
INDIATIMES CRICKET

NEW DELHI, February 27: Australia batsman Matthew Hayden has been let off by Cricket Australia with a mild warning. No fine has been imposed on him. Hayden was charged by his national board after describing Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh as an "obnoxious weed" and challenging teenage fast bowler Ishant Sharma to a fight.

Decision came after Cricket Australia (CA) on Wednesday charged Australian opener Matthew Hayden with a breach of its Code of Behaviour for making offensive remarks against Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh in an interview to Brisbane Radio.

Watch: Hayden let off mildly

Meanwhile, Indian team manager Vimal Soni has said that players are not bothered and are focused to play in the finals, starting March 2. On the hand cricket historian Boria Mazumdar has said that this verdict has left a bitter taste in the mouth.

The burly Australian cricketer was charged under Rule 9 of the CA Code of Behaviour, which prohibits detrimental public comment, a CA release said.

"Rule guidelines prohibit public denigration of other players against whom they have or will play," it said.

CA appointed a Code of Conduct Commissioner from its panel and convene a hearing at 8pm (3.30 pm IST).

Hayden, who has been an active participant in the on-field bickering that have marred India's current tour of Australia, called Harbhajan an "obnoxious little weed" and also challenged young paceman Ishant Sharma to a boxing bout during his radio interview on Tuesday.

"It's been a bit of a long battle with Harbhajan, the first time I ever met him he was the same little obnoxious weed that he is now", Hayden said

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting held by the CA in Melbourne this morning to discuss if Hayden had breached rules.

The cricket board has the authority to stop its contracted player from commenting on television, radio or print if it feels that it is not in good taste about an opposition players or board.

I was so angry when i heard this in the news!
"obnoxious little weed"..how can a player say that to another player!!..are they now getting scared of us that they have use their last defence which is swearing!..first it was ishant, who just pointed symonds back, even though symonds is the one swearing at him..and now this!..if hayden just gets off with a warning, i will be furious!..we say something, we get fined.. they swear..and are let off with a warning!..i was actually looking for a final between india and sri lanka..then and there i would know that nobody would cheat atleast..and would play proper cricket..this australians swearing at indians is getting way too far..and it needs to stop..
thats right shabari..let our actions speak for ourselfs!! 👏
