Thank you, my dear. I do try not to mind it, but at times it gets me down.

Anyhow, to take my mind off my aches and pains, I have written a short piece on last night's shenanigans and posted it before I go back to bed.

Thanks ever so much, my dear.🤗 If I did not keep up my sense of humour, I would find it hard to cope!

By way of a diversion after the morning hassles at the hospital, I have written a short piece on last night's goings on. Take a look at it. I am going back to bed now.

My dears - Surbhi, LuckySnow, Inlieu and Vaishnavi,

I was most touched by your concern for me. It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. Thanks so much, kids!🤗

I have still not finished with the latest round of tests. I was at the hospital again today and will go back as soon as all the test results are in. I am tired and irritable and fed up.

See, these last 3 years I have been in constant pain because of my RA, and sometimes it attacks not just the usual places, ie my fingers and hands, but also other joints.

The latest has been my neck, and then the shoulder joints, which resulted in my being unable to turn my head to look up or look to the side or behind. It was really funny😆, come to think of it, my turning my whole body round to look at anything behind me or above me. Like a robot!😉

Then my left knee began to act up, and I am afraid I might need a second knee replacement. I had the right one replaced three years ago after a bad fall crushed the cartilage, and the recovery process, though not complicated, was painful and hard to bear. So I am keeping my fingers crossed that I don't need to replace the other knee as well.

Last year, I had a very bad liver problem because of a reaction to the RA medication. I never knew that any one but heavy drinkers had that sort of problem, and then I have been a teetotaller all my life!😆 It took a while to get my liver in order, and for about 3 months, all was quiet on the RA front, till it decided that I was being let off too easily, and hit back with full force last month.😉

My orthopaedist is going to change several of my medications, but that can be done only when all my reports are in. Till then, I continue being literally stiff-necked,😉 and hobbling around the flat. I hope that they are able to put together a cocktail (!) of medicines that will tone down the RA and at the same time not cause a backlash elsewhere.

All in all, I have become like an old rattetrap of a car, which is unpredictable at all times and decidedly shaky sometimes!😆

OK, that is a dreary post, but then you asked for it!😉

Hello aunty

Everyone should be careful of modern medicines as they have terrible side effects if not now at later date

Many effect liver, kidney, heart etc especially painkillers

Try out nature cure to reduce pain and inflamation of arthritis ideally oils and yoga may be mild excercise or swimming in hot water etc

RA is tough take care

My dear Surbhi,

It is really sweet and thoughtful of you to be so concerned about my health. Thank you!

I am afraid I am never going to get all right, for there is no cure for rheumatoid arthritis. What I want to do, apart from pain management, is to prevent my joints from getting inflamed and deformed, especially my hands and fingers. It has not been too bad so far, but from time to time it gets to be very tough. It came out of the blue 3 years ago, and now it is with me for keeps!😉

Kya karein? One has to cope, and for me to sit down and lament over my fate would not help me in any way.So I divert myself as far as I can with hobbies, like this forum, now that I am not working. And I am so glad that this RA did not turn up when I was still a diplomat!

Then again, I am grateful that it was not worse. It could have been cancer or kidney failure, which are tougher to cope with. Morever, I have to look after my mother, who is a cardiac patient, and if I was hospitalised, there is no one to care for her.

All in all, if I had to pick a major health issue, my RA is the best of a number of bad bargains!😆

My dear, I am no role model, and in any case, you don't need one. I have listed all your virtues to you already, and I don't propose to do it again, but you are a dear girl. I hope you always stay the same, with just one little tweak, to make you less excitable and emotional!😉

My dear Prem,

How thoughtful of you to turn up out of the blue, just in order to voice your concern about my RA! Thank you so very much.

The doctors do monitor the functioning of all my potential trouble spots now, after last year's scare, which was largely my fault as I did not go in for check ups for a whole year. They also adjust and readjust my medicines, and work to minimise the prescriptions. I don't take any painkillers, even if the pain becomes bad.

But the flaring up of the RA is something that cannot be prevented or avoided. Initially, three years ago when it surfaced for the first time, I took only ayurvedic medicines for a while. But they take a while to work, and in the meantime, my hands had been almost crippled. So I had to turn to allopathic medicine.

I still take ayurvedic supplements and other natural additives that help lessen the inflammation. I am not able to work out as I used to because the joints start hurting. I think I should go easy and build it up slowly. I am too impatient to get back to where I was 3 years ago!

Thanks again, my dear boy.
