*sighs*
I honestly donno where to begin. I am clueless at the moment. How on earth do u do that Indu? Whenever I think of twisted characters, the only thing that comes to my mind is a dark twisted tale n maybe that's been my definition for a long time but u changed that. How do u make something twisted feel so heartbreakingly beautiful? 💔 I remember the time when u were hailed as the Queen of Romance, courtesy the beautiful romantic stories u wrote on Abhiya but I always maintained my stance - u were the Queen of Emotions for me and this story is proof of that.
First off I want to applaud u for doing something no writer in this forum will ever do - portray Abhay in a grey shade but u did that marvelously in LTSS and now this - to show Maithali as Abhay's eternal love while Piya was the significant other who would never get her love. Given how much everyone loves Abhiya here, I would never dream of penning something like this for fear of rejection. But I guess its the mark of a true writer to go with their conviction without fearing the consequences. So kudos to u once again for taking this risk n penning a beautiful story ❤️
Coming to the story, the characterisation stands out. It is the clear winner here 👏 Abhay and Maithali's story is so beautiful and when u look at it from Abhay's perspective, it is just like a fairytale until Henry walks into their lives to give all of us a reality check. I would not call Maithali any names here just coz she ended up breaking Abhay's heart. She is at the end of the day a human and she was bound to falter. Sometimes love is never enough. The deceptive heart always craves more of what is forbidden to desire. The words eternal love and commitment are thrown around so casually that it makes one believe it is a mandate in life but fact is not everyone is destined to be with their soulmate for all of their life. Life is twisted, so is love and that's the reality of life. Abhay moved on or appeared to have moved on as he got into a no strings attached relationship with Piya who was a stark contrast to Maithali. Independent n strong unlike Maithali who was delicate n made anyone feel protective of her. With Piya Abhay found a companion who accepted him without any ties n who asked nothing in return. This arrangement worked for years until Piya wanted something more. It was only natural for her, as Abhay was the first man she had truly loved n having given more than 6 years of her life, she wanted him to take the next step. But she knew nothing about the ghosts of his past that still haunted him and whose name was Maithali. Abhay would never bring himself to love another woman n when he realised what Piya wanted, instead of having a straight talk, he vanished. That must have been humiliating for Piya. The man she wanted to entrust her life to, ran away without any explanation n for her to realise that all those years she loved a man who did not even have the courage to look her in the eyes before calling it quits.
On the other hand Maithali is still pining for Abhay after having left him for another man. She decides to go back to Abhay even though she knows there is a good probability he has found someone n is probably happy with her. But the heart is never known for rationality. It wanted to seek its true love even though it had once shattered it badly to never be pieced again. It is selfish to crave for pardon but it does anyways with a desire it will get what it wants. So she leaves Henry again, the way she had once left Abhay for him and when she sees him after all that time, she wants to express her feelings, no matter whether Abhay loves her or not. She wants to give it a shot even without bothering to know that Abhay might belong to someone else now. But fate has something else in store for her as an infuriated Piya turns up. Piya only wants to punish the man who stole all those years of her life but this time Maithali takes the blow. This is her only salvation. To die in the arms of a man she loved - to die a death meant for him. All Abhay wanted and all Maithali wanted was to express her love for him but death played a cruel game here and Maithali took her last breath without being able to say the words. Such is the irony of fate
Abhay took the fall for Piya's actions. Not because he wanted to make a sacrifice but he knew this was his way of setting things right. He had taken a large part of Piya's life selfishly despite knowing he will never be able to repay her devotion to him. He didn't do it for Maithali. He didn't do it for Piya. He did it to relieve himself of the guilt of turning Piya into a murderer. It was he who drove Piya to take this drastic step and now he could not back out of taking accountability for his actions. He hoped his act would allow Piya to have a fresh start in life n that was why he never agreed to see her even though she turned up regularly to see him. He wanted her to erase every trace of his from her life. Undo the damage he had done. But Piya could never bring to forgive herself for what she had done. Anger knows no bounds n when it takes over u, u can't see anything beyond the hatred that clouds every sense of yours. If taking the blame for Piya's crime was Abhay's salvation, then Abhay's freedom was Piya's. When they finally met after all those years, they had found their closure.
Loved these lines:
Our grief filling the pores of our loneliness and our heart beating to find peace if not love. Again.
Beautiful Indu 👏 I am probably not using too many adjectives because I know they will fall short. Take a bow woman ⭐️ 🤗
If only I could write even 10% as beautifully as u do, I'd not crib about my writing 😆 and my readers would be spared the rant 😆
I wouldn't say this is my fav among all ur works as u know which one holds that spot but this one should definitely be a landmark in ur journey as a writer 👏
