This is one of my favorite BW films. I remember i was hesitant about watching it after seeing Dhanush in the promos as he is not a conventionally good looking hero but thank god i did end up watching the movie. Came out as a fan of Dhanush after 2 hours, spectacular will be an understatement for his performance. we were a group of 4 people, and 3 of us were bawling at the end after Kundan's monologue while he dies. After Raanjhna, I planned to watch Dhanush's south films, and i did not know that he has a record of playing a tragic hero in most of his films. I watched 3 and could not understand how is it possible that this guy is in south and all i heard was stupid vijay and rajni films being super hits which are filled with mindless action.
Aadukalam and Mayakkam enna was Dhanush's best and Maryan was such a special performance, i am so glad that even though i do not understand Tamil i had the patience of watching these movies. The sound track and performances are superb, even those of the female leads. The last Dhanush starrer which I watched was Kodi, and this guy is a gem, he even sold a masala entertainer so well, and Tisha looked so beautiful and acted so well, Kodi is probably the type of masala entertainer revolving twins which desi audience needs, but sadly BW gave us Judwaa which was awful Varun re-doing an already OTT salman and failing to create an impact.
