Is Barsine's mother pregnant? I read on wikipedia that she died in childbirth sometime after the Battle of Issus.
Bit of a shocker here.

Yes, she died in childbirth, so she must have been expecting at this stage. But it was not immediately after the battle of Issus.

Thanks for explaining the bazaar incident and how Alexander could have made the connection to Bharat.

As for this week on Porus, I too am getting weary of this whole gladiator match and the endless speeches. Ugh.

I get what you mean by the small percentage of viewers who understood the subtleties. I know I should not fret about this, or the fact that the makers may never make this crystal clear, but what I can continue to appreciate is that the makers, and especially Rohit, has inserted them in his performance. We need to look closely and it's there in his micro-expressions. Lately, there have been more close-ups of him as Prince of Persia, and it has given us the privilege of watching him emote magnificently with his eyes. Very important if we want to follow him as he goes about things in his Holmes avatar. 😆

You're right, who told Alexander that she loves Bharat? Maybe he's just taking at shot at guessing her motivations. Is she really in love with Puru though, or is it just infatuation? Also, I kind of feel sorry for Barsine, strangely enough. She was supposed to marry Kanishk the then crown prince but had to leave India with her angry father. She can never call that country her own again but now that she's back in Persia, she doesn't feel at home here either. Maybe they will show Alexander sending her off to Macedonia for further education, or finishing school to learn the adab he expects and that her mother apparently didn't teach her, lol! And maybe I am once again expecting too much from the CVs.

As for the costumes, I agree. With all that budget they have for this show, and the fact that Alexander started to get a taste of the lavish life after conquering Persia, I don't want to see the new Shah-e-Faras wear the same clothes for another month! At least with the Macedonian gear, it's all white so he can wear the same thing everyday and it won't make a difference. I don't see him changing out of his robes anytime soon, though. He quite likes himself in the Farsi lebaas and andaaz. 😉 I would like to see him wear something green to match his eyes 'cause I'm sure he'll look fantastic.

I think you said in another post that he looks gaunt. I have been watching some older episodes where he looked a little "healthier". Perhaps he's losing too much weight or working too hard and it's making him look like he's lost some muscle mass too. Apparently he got severe rashes from wearing all that armor and shooting in 40 degrees heat during the battle scenes. Poor guy! No wonder he prefers wearing those loose flowing robes. 😕

Yesterday was quite boring in Porus. So I am enjoying a much needed break. Not that I need to exert myself; you do very well when you bestir yourself!
My hands hurt today, so I shall make just one point.

Not even ten percent of the viewers of Porus would have understood, despite what Porus told Laachi the day before about Alexander organising that town hall meeting only in order to catch the Bharatiya helping Barsine, that even the pseudo execution of the fat kid was part of the same plan. They would have taken it at face value, and decided that despite his soft speech and his promises, Alexander was a cruel king and couldn't be trusted.

We, the few of us who analyse and understand Alexander, are sensitive to every fleeting shade that crosses his face or his eyes, and so can see what he has been up to. As I had noted earlier, one can't expect a lady with one eye on the dinner and another on the TV to grasp these subtleties.

It could have been made crystal clear with just one sentence to Barsine. " Tumhein kya laga, shehzaadi, ki main us badtameez bachche to marnewala tha? Wo to sirf ek zariya tha, is Bharatiya ko benaqaab karne ka". But that mocking comment was not forthcoming.

Yes, Alexander. seems to think that Barsine loves this Bharatiya, which is why, he says last night with a semi s tryarcastic smile, she loves Bharat so much. But then who told Alexander that she loves Bharat?

As for your question as to how Alexander linked Barsine's smile to her sojourn in Bharat, I suppose he reasoned as follows.
1) Barsine was not enthused by anything in his speech. He could see that clearly.
2) She suddenly smiles when the Persian bazaar catches fire
That can't be because of the unfortunate incident which harmed her own people.
3) Nor could it have been a casual local incident, for that would have produced a different reaction in Barsine. But it is not new to her.
4) Alexander has ruled out the accidental fire option.
5) So it must have been done by an outsider, with whose modus operandi Barsine is familiar.
6) She was till recently in Bharat. So that incident is linked to Bharat, to someone from Bharat.

Finally, if Alexander is going to stick to the Persian get up, he should at least have three or four outfits to wear. Right now, he seems to be following in Barsine's footsteps in this regard!😆
