Throwback Article-My Love Life Is Rocking: Ranveer Singh

Ranveer Singh is currently at home, recovering from dengue that he recently contracted while shooting in Durgapur. During my visit to his house on Tuesday, I can tell you two things for sure. One, he will fully recover from dengue and two, he seems to be stuck with a disease he has always been susceptible to, lovaria. I landed up playing doctor to him and bring you parts of our conversation.

How did you get dengue?
We were shooting in Durgapur and there was a swamp behind where our van was parked. Other people also got bitten, but I guess, because my immunity was lower, only I contracted the disease. There were just two days left for the schedule and the next day, I had to do an action sequence. I did it, despite the high fever I was running, which made me feel really messed up by the end of the day and I went for a blood check-up that evening. Fortunately, the next day there was just a talkie scene, so I managed. We finished the shoot and I came back to Mumbai, but I knew there was something really wrong with my body. That night, I was diagnosed with dengue and got admitted for a week. I knew I would not die as I had medical help.



But I was nauseous and felt so weak that I could not even lift a glass of water. Fortunately, my mom was there and my medical help was good. The doctor kept telling me it was a serious case of dengue and so I should not take it easy, but the reason I could fight it and, that too, so fast was because my general fitness levels were very high. I am back home now and recovering. But it takes a while to get back your energy levels. If I am walking up the stairs, I feel tired as if I am an 80-year-old. I am only sleeping and eating right now and for two weeks, am not allowed to do anything.

Talk about your love life? It's good. It's rocking. I love being in love. It's the best feeling in the world. I have never felt like this before. Main aur kuch bolunga nahi as mujhe nazar bahut lagti hai. TOI ke front page pe meri nangi photo aa gayi, socho mujhe machchar ne kaat diya!But main bahut khush hoon. And I feel if this is not being in love, then what is? Woh kaun hai nahi bataoonga, but kuch toh hai.

Do you feel it's love? I feel it is love. Dekhiye mujhe ho gaya hai lovaria.

Is it the first time you felt like this? I have felt like this in the past also, but it's a strong feeling this time. When you feel so strongly then you can say I guess I am in love. I don't know what is love, but what I am feeling is quite strong and cannot explain it.

Since when have you contracted this disease?Since a few months.

What do you really like about this girl?Everything. Her kindness and her being genuine and caring.

Few months back you told me that you felt like getting married. Do you feel you will get married to the girl you are dating right now? I want to, but I am not ready. I need to have some financial stability, settle down in my career and give a few blockbusters before I can shift my focus to building a family.

Have you suffered from lovaria before? It's a terminal disease that I keep having and it keeps relapsing. I have had this disease very much all my life. It started in Senior KG, when the first symptoms started showing. I have had strong lovaria when I was in Class VII, then IX, then first year at university, then when I came back to India. And I know, given how I am, I am easily susceptible to relapses.

Why is your immunity so low? I don't know, but I think I have a large heart and am caring, emotional and sensitive and am a sucker for affection.

When did the last relapse happen? It's quite recent and is quite bad.

You don't feel you will recover this time? I think my chances are low.

Are you possessive? I am fiercely loyal and over- possessive, but I am learning to control my being possessive. I have become quite mature though not as much as I would like to be, but have still improved tremendously. I can't hide my feelings and it takes a lot of effort to be closed about things I feel for.

Let's talk about your co-star in Ram-Leela Deepika Padukone? Humari Deepikaji ko dekh lo, kya physical appearance hai. Jab aati hain screen pe, aur kuch dikhta hi nahi hai. To get attention in the frame, I had to take off my shirt, put in all this energy, change my look, but I used to tell her when we watched the scenes on the monitor that she is so visually stunning that the eye keeps going only to her. I can keep doing whatever hell I want, but when I watch it, I don't look at myself, I only look at her.

How was it working with her? She is great and has a good immunity against lovaria as she is usually detached.

Your chemistry in the songs released seems superb? Such chemistry is only destiny. Our energies from the beginning were in tandem. I knew she will be easy to work with, but you can't get your eyes off the screen when you are looking at her. I love what I see. I only watch Deepika when I see the monitor.

Is this true for every co-star you worked with in the past that you watch your co-star? No in the past, I would only watch myself. It's the first time that I can't help but watch her.

Editor's note: While Ranveer may not have named the girl he is in love with, my best guess is that girl is a Deepika I know. And only time can tell how good this guess was. But for now, I could say, he looks stunning with his current co-star Deepika Padukone.
