He is indeed affected, a little too much... and he is trying to hide everything he feels trying to be the arrogant swag wala Sameer he was earlier... The only difference is that time he was hiding the pain of a scattered family - that pain was deep but not sharp, the edge had lessened over the years...

He then found the elixir of life from Naina and MunDit... he started to live... truly... he started to feel without being scared...

And now when he is trying to be that earlier version of Sameer,this time he is hiding the pain of his own scattered life and future - this pain is deep as well as sharp enough to slice his heart in two... Yet, he is hell-bent on bearing everything on his own... Didn't we know he was capable of this? The boy who could do anything for his friends, we knew already how much he could sacrifice for his love... Till the time he is completely assured that his love is not in danger by his presence, he will be in this pain... It does seem foolish and it is... but for the person who is undergoing this trauma it is a razor sharp pain that we cannot even imagine.
